The two types of Digivices are granted during an encounter with the mikos. The Digivice SP is, for all intents and purposes, a smartphone that's been transformed into a Digivice. It still has all the functions of your average smartphone, with other programs and hardware "magicked" into it (for lack of a better term). The Digivice VB takes the form of a smart watch. Similar functions to what you'd get from one bought in a store, but provides both Digivice functionality (Digimon status check, Digivolution catalyst, etc.) and the ability to use DiM cards.
