So I think Matteo is a fine character and his nanomachines should fit in just fine as well. However, I have concerns that the scale of his Plane and his forces is mismatched to basically everyone else, and possibly the story at large. I remember our discussion in the Int Check, where you had assumed that a Plane was basically a planet, and I said that they were as big as they needed to be. So I don't fault you for running with that logic, and as ever I don't want to say "no," but I am basically wondering how you see your character fitting into this story. What relevancy does an army of dragons, or a cabal of assassins have in the face of a fleet of starships in orbit ready to bomb the fuck out of everything? I hope you can see my dilemma here, and I am interested to hear your thoughts.
Yep, this is why I said I thought I would need to scale back on my plans. I could pretty easily remove the space armada part of his sheet; in fact it would make more sense to remove it than keep it based on his lore. In his plane, space travel didn't really exist until he invented the ability to fold space because the distances involved made it untenable; therefore none of the other planets in his plane should have the kind of defenses that would cause him to need a fleet of warships. Transport ships and research ships would still be needed, because he can't just warp from planet to planet; his tech allows for relatively short jumps ("short" on an interstellar level anyway), but travel between worlds is still going to take weeks or months. So no planetary bombardments, but the whole spacefaring thing is a core part of thr character that I'd rather not remove if possible.
