Background: Shizuka was an orphan raised in the temples near the emperor's palace. She was adopted by the monks and raised her as if she's one of them. Desolately growing up as fine, young woman, she earned for the love of a true family as she often see children with fathers and mothers every time she went down the mountains to do errands for her parent monks. Aside from that, she also has a habit of throwing people away as she's not good at making friends.

In one of Kou Empire's secret advocacy of retrieving their legacy as a nation of King Candidates, the men of the Southern Water Temple were challenged to produce at least five Dungeon Clearers. Of course it was practically impossible, but they were desperate enough for if they weren't able to, they're going to be kicked out of the terrains of the empire. Kaname Mizuko, the guardian of Shizuka Mizuko, entered the dungeons never to come back. This made Shizuka follow them, and she unexpectedly saw others who in return saved her from being killed inside. Crocell, having the legacy of a womanizer Djinn, chose Shizuka as his King Candidate even if she's not that strong.
