[@Lady Mischief] I generally just make it a rule that there's no back to back posting. Basically you can't have two posts in a row or go back to back with another poster multiple times and have too much development in a short amount of time. 

I once had what should have been a car ride at superspeed in an RP turned into a ten post conversation between multiple characters about nothing. The distance being travelled was like two or three blocks away and we were going at superspeed.... a lengthy conversation shouldn't have been possible LOL. I just try to avoid that kind of thing these days.
