Who will rule the new Urth?
Hello there! This RP is based on the 1994 arcade classic fighting game Primal Rage. It might be a bit before I'm ready to start, because I'd like to give people time to iron out their concepts, as you will be playing new characters, instead of the ones featured in the video game. For those who don't know, Primal Rage is about god-like "DinoBeasts" who fight for control over the land and population of a ruined Earth, referred to in materials as "Urth". So basically, we'll be playing as kaiju with a domain and fighting game powers akin to those in Mortal Kombat, as far as theme goes. In order to balance out the naturally hectic nature of the premise, I'm considering using what I'll be calling "actionable terms", basically aspects of your character's bio/description that you can reference to solve situations, or possibly act against you. Speaking of, it would be best if characters have a reason to at least expand their territory, if not have a goal that involves, or is assisted by, conquering "Urth" and defeating the other players. Most of the "DinoBeasts" were dormant under the crust of the Earth until a meteor strikes the Earth and destroys the moon. While the meteor doesn't awaken all of them instantly, it usually caused a chain reaction that lead to the characters coming to the surface to fight. Also, the human worshipers will be used as a kind of resource, and, along with territory, be wagered in fights, to a degree. I'm thinking of having a named chieftain slot on the character sheet, who can act as emissaries for your main characters. And given the nature of this being based on a fighting game, and the nature of the characters in that game, your characters won't really die. And if they do, it won't be for long.
Name: Species: (Usually made up, so feel free to be creative or unspecific, giant gorillas are called "Kongs", etc.) Appearance: Height/Length: Weight: Consumption Rate: (How much does the character eat? Just for fun.) Lair: (The character's territory, the seat of their power, and their fighting stage.) Affiliation: (Destructive or Virtuous, basically, "good" or "bad", generally speaking.) Domain: (The element of which they are the 'god'.) Followers: (The humans that worship your character. Each player will start with 3,000 followers, which can be affected by their disposition, actions, victories, and losses. The more followers a "DinoBeast" has, the stronger they become.) Chieftain: (Describe the leader of your followers, to whom you can give orders directly. Think of them as your emissary.) Bio: (A rundown of who they are, what they do, why they do it, etc. In your bio, pick three attributes of your character to use as "actionable traits", by bolding, color coordinating, or otherwise indicating them with formatting. These can be related to size, temperament, tactics, makeup, or anything else that can be helpful, or harmful, in conflicts and danger. You can gain an edge in combat by invoking these during the RP. Just discuss it with me in the OOC thread, and we'll see how it can work for or against you.) (Please include a description of your character's awakening and how they would react to the first group of humans they come across.) RAGE- (Here you will describe your fighting abilities and combat prowess.) General Combat: (Your basic attacks, are divided into several categories: Low and High, Quick and Fierce, and Power. Basically, think of them as Strong and Fast Punches and Kicks, but relative to your character's anatomy, so tail sweeps and bites are included as well, being low and high respectively. Power attacks are a conceptual combination of your Quick and Fierce attacks for both high and low aim. These usually have more of a wind-up.)(Here's a good primer video, if you need a better explanation.) Specials: (Here, you can select seven special attacks that use the powers of your character.) Dominations: (Dominations moves are special finishing moves that garner more followers. Each character has two domination moves, but they can only be used at the end of the match in victory, when all their actionable traits unused.)
Let me know if you have any comments, questions, or concerns. : )
