Synths start as a Pawn piece, and by reaching the end of the chessboards they exist in servitude upon, can be "promoted" by a simple costume and logic change. Due to some external meddling, however, Terra's promotions are far more realistic and grant her deadly access to her various secondary abilities.[/i] [*] [*][b][i]Virtual Reality Actualization Module[/i][/b] [i]The aforementioned meddling. By embedding a Fragment of herself into Terra, Carroll imbued the mere Pawn with the power of a Sword Devil, and the ability to realistically manifest her once hardlight weapons and abilities. As a result, Terra can use her Promotions in ways otherwise impossible off the board.[/i] [*] [*][b][i]Interger Value[/i][/b] [i]Synths, at "birth", are assigned a Value of 1, 3, 5, and 9 with the designations of Pawn, Knight/Bishop, Rook, and Queen, respectively. The reason why is because Synths are born to entertain Wonderlandian royality as pieces on a chessboard, and live to happily tear each other apart in sophisticated bloodsports. This plays into the Unique Skill of a Pawn.[/i] [*] [*][b][i]Rise: Pawn[/i][/b] [i]The basic state of a Synth is the Pawn, the basic unit, and strongest unit under the Rule of Promotion. By reaching the end of the board, a Pawn is allowed to promote to a captured Synth of any type, and continue the fight. Not beholden to any form of Magic or Martial Weapons Training, a Pawn is an Unarmed Fighter with frightening strength to cripple another Synth, which will simply break most Mamono. Pawns have a Unique Skill that sets them apart from other Synths:[/i] [list][*][b][i]Promotion[/i][/b] [i]Pawns, upon reaching the end of the chessboard, can swap out their Classification for a captured Synth, and strengthen the fight behind enemy lines. Due to Carroll's meddling with her CPU and VRAM, Terra's promotions are real, but limited to a Unique Inherit Value of 10, and, she is capable of choosing any Promotion upon entering a Combat Scenario. Theoretically, Terra's [Pawn] Piece could Promote to 10 Pawns, but that would be silly...[/i][/list] [*] [*][b][i]Promote: Knight[/i][/b] [i]An advanced state of a Synth that offers increased speed and Sword Training. By spending 3 IV, Terra can activate VRAM and create a short sword and traditional, chainmail armor set for herself.
