Name: Lynette Gender: Female Age: 24 Appearance:

Standing at an imposing 6’1” Lynette would normally look intimidating to most if not for her happy go lucky attitude and almost always having a smile on her face. Despite the amount of liveliness she normally has in her it doesn’t seem to extend up to her red eyes, which in contrast almost seem dull and empty most of the time. Her black hair is usually messy as she does her best to try and keep it well kept but cutting and maintaining it has been difficult for her. Personality: On the surface Lynette seems like an upbeat and carefree person. She is easily excitable and will often ramble on about her “friends” to anyone who shows the slightest interest. She dislikes resorting to violence except in terms of self defense or protecting someone else. To many she’d seem like a much welcome outlier amongst some of the other hermits in the wilds of the world. She’s far more sociable than them too as she enjoys interacting with anybody that she comes across, assuming of course that they aren’t violent immediately. Though once people are around her for long they begin to notice some unsettling facts about her. It’s very obvious when interacting with her that she’s not all there. Her view of the world is… distorted. She doesn’t seem bothered by the state of it like others. Unlike some dreamers she’s not upset by the souls that she harbors and doesn’t understand when others are scared of her powers. There also seems to be something else hidden deep down. Behind the happiness she seems to be hiding something about herself that even she doesn’t realize. But at least she has all of her “friends” to help her forget about whatever might have caused it. Dream: The Maddening Dream Lynette’s dream is not a good one. It is a dream of almost nightmarish chaos, one that would drive those with weaker wills mad. Perhaps it already did the same to her long ago. No matter the case she draws power from the unknowable horrors that she has grown accustomed to in her dreams. This culminates in two main techniques. The first being the ability to summon tentacles out of shadow, her main form of combat. Usually she summons them directly from herself for the defensive capabilities but she can summon them anywhere within her sphere of influence as well. The second is being able to summon one of the horrible creatures from within the dreams. Due to the mental strain she can only summon one at a time however she has a variety of eldritch horrors at her disposal. The bigger and more powerful they are the more effort required to keep them manifested, depending on the strength she might be unable to move or do anything else while keeping it active. For normal people her creatures instill an unearthly fear and madness, though thankfully other dreamers seem to be much more resistant to their mental effects. Bio: Lynette was not always like she was now, most would not recognize the excitable women if they saw her as a child. She was very skittish and scared of the world around her. She used to live on her own, struggling to survive until she was taken in by a man who she at first viewed as her savior. He gave her food, shelter, everything she needed to survive. Ever since her parents disappeared she had no one so it was a welcome change. It felt like there was a sudden change in his demeanor though. One day he started getting… distant. He brought Lynette to the basement of their home, a place that looked almost like a laboratory. An almost pristinely clean place. He placed a tray in front of her and sitting upon it was a strange crystal. He instructed Lynette to grab it. She was tentative at first, the change in his demeanor from kind to stone cold and analytical was very off putting. After some more prodding she finally did, and as she did she felt something coursing through her. It turns out her caretaker was studying Dreamers due to an almost morbid fascination with them. He set up his lab to study them but figured that rather than take one who had control over their powers when he himself had none he would create one. He had found a soul shard and a child would be much easier to manipulate and keep complacent. And it allowed him a rare opportunity to study the process of absorbing the shards power. It was mentally taxing and painful experience for the young girl. She felt the many souls harbored within flooding into her body. When she first got her powers her dream was much less coherent. She had little to no control and couldn’t use her powers much at all without feeling like her mind would tear apart. She stayed there for years and years as the man she had trusted treated her like a lab rat and forced her to utilize her powers for his studies. Though eventually as the dream became more coherent and her powers began to fully manifest despite the toll on her sanity. Though at the point within her where some might begin their shift into a nightmare, something within her snapped. Almost as if something took over for her. Shadowy tentacles came from her body and tore the man apart without warning. She was able to escape but she was on her own once again. This time with the power to keep herself safe, and a new distorted outlook on life. It had been several years since then. She has been living in the cabin that used to be her prison, and even became a local legend referred to as the ‘Witch of the Woods.’ If you asked her about her past now she would tell you that most of it is a blur. A thick fog that she can’t see past clouds her memories. It might be better for her though not remembering the trauma involved in that.
