Salvator Rasch
Of course the anti-insurgent gunship had energy shielding, of all things. Just once, he couldn't have gotten lucky with an occupying government choosing to cut corners instead of investing in overkill. Two missiles put a sizable dent in the shielding, but it was still active enough to blunt the impact of any anti-air weaponry fired at it. For at least one more shot, that was. They needed more options. As Salvator surveyed the field, a gurgle from the side caught his attention. He snapped his gun up and damn near fired on the dying insurgent on instinct, but both the dying fighter's appearance and his pinging as green on his IFF prevented him from giving the poor bastard a mercy kill just yet. Instead, Salvator followed the soldier's pointer finger towards the sparking gealtirocht corpse and...the rail cannon. Well. That had possibilities. The only thing Rasch could provide the dying man short of a quicker death was a respectful nod for doing his duty even in his last moments, and he did as such before void jumping straight to the railgun. No time to waste. His armor's systems wouldn't be enough to power the damn thing, but considering the corpse was still lit up, there was a chance that he could at least jump start the railgun to get a shot or two off. "Power-sucking piece of shit!" He hissed under his breath as he placed his plated hands on the railgun, his armor syncing up with its systems upon manual contact. It was as he thought: one shot, maybe two if he was willing to risk draining all of his own armor's juice temporarily. Either way, it'd have to be quick. The powered armor's battery was draining fast from all the fire put into it. "Wilco, providing covering fire. Hang tight, railgun's priming." Salvator managed to keep his voice calm as he responded to his fellow voidhanger. No sense in alarming the rest of the team with his own irritation. He had the power draw to fire. Now he just needed good aim. Salvator's uplink with the gun meant he didn't need to shoulder the thing to aim, instead treating it more like an artillery piece as he maneuvered it into place until his HUD's readouts gave him a green light. "Energy charge complete, firing for effect!" The railgun crackled with a boom, and a bolt fired straight at the gunship. With any luck, it'd at least take out the energy shield so that someone else could finish the damn thing off.
