Mazie impatiently tapped her fingers against her thigh. None of the students were her best friends, but she did recognize Cassius and Laura, although she had never talked to them directly. They both ran in the mutant circles of heroism, and while she did her best to stay up to date with all the children of heroes, there were some she still had to introduce herself to. Even more surprisingly were how many students she has just never heard of at all. Most of the students, to be more accurate. And each one of them is a potential friend! She thought ecstatically, turning her nervous tapping into outright bouncing as the thought turned into daydreams about how many people would become her friend here. The sound of a window breaking and Deadpool being flung onto the gate pulled her from her grand delusions and she was able to spot her father and mother walking away from the school, her mother’s hand gripping her father’s bicep as they strolled along the streets. She would miss living with them but knew that they would still be here in New York. Hell’s Kitchen wasn’t that far away. Thinking about her living situation made her eager to start the tour, with Hulk, War Machine, and Happy showing the group of students the grounds. As the group gets led through the halls, Mazie tries to note which students take interest in which rooms. She finds herself most drawn to the gymnasium and the cafeteria, naturtally. When they first step into the gym, Mazie’s jaw nearly drops. Sure, the dojos she has trained in have been nice but none of them have had a pool! Okay, okay, they had hot rock saunas which were pretty awesome for her sore muscles, but think about all of the potential a pool could have! She looked around the group of students she would be spending the next few years training with, looking them each up and down, gauging their physiques. Maybe it was best not to think about all of them in their bathing suits. Yeah, I can think about how we can all train together! She tried to divert her mind, but that thought just made her think about all of her fellow classmates all hot and sweaty, which made a tiny and shy squeak escape from her lips. Her blush moved from her cheeks all the way up to her ears. She chastised herself for her thoughts. It seemed that being on her own was opening up new thoughts and feelings she seldom thought to explore. She knew she was here at the academy for training but things felt so different than all the years she spent under tutelage from her family and their chosen mentors. Although her mother picked her outfits and guided her social media presence, Mazie’s own life was seldom as risque as her clothing would lead others to believe. She barely had time to herself for such things as dating during what some would call her “highschool years” and the only person she has even had a crush on is the only boy she’s ever had the privilege of calling a friend. I am here to train, I am here to make my own legacy, I don’t have time for such fancies! Mazie scolded herself for allowing her thoughts to stray so far from the tour at hand. By the time she was done with her own self inflicted reprimanding, they finished the tour at the dormitories. She heard the other students commenting about the living situations, something about getting to know each other, and a bed is a bed, even a line about the Starks not being able to afford extra walls, which she gave a tiny giggle at. But then she stood straight as a board, her eyes widening in realization as she tentatively raised her hand while asking, “the rooms aren’t co-ed, right?”
