They will generally do tasks for her or perhaps even fight for her if necessary. Fairy Magic - The magical powers of Merryweather's wand are different than regular combat magic, generally providing utility rather than firepower. Lyra can use the wand to summon animals and conjure items. She can animate objects and change the appearances of things, or even hide them from sight for a while. She can also cast a sleep spell, though this can be resisted. The wand has other powers as well, but Lyra isn't skilled enough to make use of the more advanced techniques. Resistance to Darkness Dawn Form - Because her original self was a princess of light, Lyra has a very strong connection to the light. However, due to the actions of the Organization, the Light has become stagnant and overly abundant. Too much of the stuff gathers in and around Lyra, corrupting her with its sometimes evil influence, much like what happens with other nobodies. When the corruption overcomes her, Lyra enters her Dawn Form - in which she loses most of her normal headspace and all of her charm. Her hair and her skin become stark white, while her eyes and fingernails turn black. In this form she can barely speak - she is bestial and highly aggressive. She flits around and attacks with unusual strength. Once enough light has been emitted, she will revert to her normal self, though in a confused and exhausted state. Backstory: She was originally Aurora, a princess of Enchanted Dominion who was both blessed and cursed with magic at her birth. She was raised by fairies in the forest, trying to avoid conflict with the evil witch, Maleficient. But their clash was inevitable, and eventually the girl was sealed by the curse into a deep and unbreakable sleep. Eventually she was freed by a great hero, and one day she became the rightful ruler of her world. Maleficient survived, however. Later on she would capture Aurora again, and cause her original world to be devoured by the darkness. Somewhere along the line, Aurora's heart was stolen from her - and what was left of the princess was born again as Lyra. Lyra still doesn't know what became of her heart - whether it was stolen by Maleficient or some other figure. Becoming a nobody left her with only fractured memories of her original life. With her home world gone, Lyra ended up at Traverse Town. She had no idea of her place in the world at all. But Lyra was an anomaly in the Organization's plan, and each time they reset the worlds, she became more sure of what was going on. She could feel how the light was becoming corrupted over time - no longer the pure and rare force she had once been a champion of. Eventually Lyra joined forces with the rebellion. She wasn't much of a warrior, but her very existence was a problem for the Keepers. Since Aurora's heart was missing and the princess no longer existed as such, Enchanted Dominion was unable to be fully restored to its peak of light. The organization would be forced to replace the leader of the kingdom with a stand-in each time, or otherwise explain Aurora's absence somehow. Because of all this, Lyra has become a high profile target of the new organization, which seeks to recover her. The rebellion on the other hand wants to defy them and keep Lyra hidden and safe. This task has become more difficult as the Rebellion forces grow smaller and smaller in number. Sometimes Lyra is forced to go out on her own or with a very small escort just to evade the Organization forces. But she hasn't been captured yet. Other: I've been looking for references for an evil looking aurora for her Dawn form. Here are the best ones I've found so far. I'll probably have to edit something to have it really suit my vision though.
