Ktar Deathbringer, the true original form of Carter Hall, was a servant of the Lord Beyond the Void and in his name committed many atrocities and took numerous lives. But the angel, Shrra sensed good in Ktar, revealing herself to him and promptly Ktar to betray his master, trapping the Lord Beyond the Void in another dimension. However, Shrra's actions were seen as a betrayal to her master and so, they were cursed by The Presence to reincarnate across space and time alongside each other until they saved as many lives as Ktar took during his time as a servant of the Lord Beyond the Void.
