Becker's childhood, shaped by a military family's structure, was enriched by her father's love for the outdoors. He often led stargazing excursions into remote areas, creating cherished moments under the night sky with her father and brother. These experiences instilled a deep fascination and a profound connection to nature within Becker. The tranquility of stargazing became a refuge, grounding her amidst the frequent relocations and instilling a lifelong passion for the cosmos.

After her premed degree, Becker was driven by a fervent, albeit naive desire to serve, protect, and make a difference. Her induction into the military marked the beginning of rigorous training that tested both her physical and mental fortitude. Excelling in physical fitness tests and displaying unwavering determination, her resilience and ability to keep a cool head in high-pressure situations became evident during intense drills and simulations.

Becker prioritized her skills as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) within the military. She displayed exceptional composure and expertise in providing medical aid during emergencies, demonstrating a compassionate yet decisive approach to saving lives amidst chaotic circumstances.

But trauma and sacrifice that came with serving, had left a sense of devastation to those who lost. She considered them her friends, brothers and sisters, which stirred a depressing mixture of survivor's guilt, anger, and profound grief. One could say that this became a turning point for her, fostering a guarded cynicism and intensifying her skepticism for companionship, significantly influencing her approach to trust and camaraderie. And she brought it with her years after her tenure. 

She was honorably discharged, and eventually, found work as a paramedic. Becker confronted loss and tragedy head-on, fostering an unwavering resolve in the face of adversity. Her experiences, left her unfazed, numb to it even, deeply impacted her perception of the world and existence in general. Though she found ways to cope through light hearted humor, she accepted loss as an inevitable part of her new reality, acknowledging its weight while refusing to let it consume her.
