Just thought I'd put feelers out there for anyone else that might be interested in a Sunless Seas-based roleplay. Sunless Seas is a top-down game created by the makers of Fallen London and has a Lovecraftian/steampunk feel with (in my opinion) a lot of potential for original characters and writing. The writing sample I included in my introduction post is for an original character based in this world, and while I could simply write a fan-fiction, I thought it would be much more engaging to begin a role-play, if the interest exists. Personally, my interest in pirates, steampunk, and dark, gritty (and often humorous) tales is really cultivated by this world. With an expanse of sentient creatures (humans, claymen, apes, rats, cavies, devils, the nearly dead, the undead, inexplicables from the zee..), a variety of gods (the most common being Storm, Stone, and Salt..), and factions (the Bazaar, Hell, the Khanate, and so on..), it seems like a preestablished world ripe for original works. Granted, I'm far from finishing the game and haven't unlocked nearly all of the dark secrets, but even the bit that I have played has really piqued my interest. This could be a free-form type role-play or based on stats and rolls (though not being experienced in tabletop, I would need some assistance with that format), and I think it would best be played 1x1 or small group. The potential plot I have in mind would likely best be served by a 1x1 but could easily be adapted for small group. I'm also open to ideas; I simply think this world is just too good not to do some original writing. If you have any experience with the game and interest in writing in this setting, please don't hesitate to reply here or DM me. Thanks for reading!
