[indent]After his family was lost in a devastating house fire that authorities could never fully explain, young Antoni was tossed into the turbulent foster system, severed from the only sense of home and belonging he had ever known. As an orphaned child adrift in a sea of unfamiliar faces and places, Antoni clung to the desperate hope that each new home would finally be the one to take him in for good. But the years dragged on, and he continued to bounce between foster families - some kind and nurturing, others cold and neglectful. No matter where he laid his head, the ache of loneliness and rootlessness never ceased. Eventually, Antoni aged out of the system, finally free yet utterly alone. With no family or support network to lean on, just surviving each day was a monumental struggle. But slowly, through grit and perseverance, Antoni carved out a humble living for himself as a mechanic, finding solace in the simple joys of working with his hands. Though he had settled into a life of obscurity, Antoni couldn't help the pangs of longing that would pierce his heart whenever he saw a happy family gathered together. Clinging to the only blood relatives he had left - distant uncles and cousins across the sea in Greece - Antoni reached out in desperation. At first, the exchanges seemed normal, even hopeful. But soon, sinister undertones began seeping in as strange requests for questionable “favors” came trickling across the ocean. Trusting in the familial bond, Antoni reluctantly agreed, slowly being sucked into the dark criminal underworld his relatives secretly operated within. By the time Antoni witnessed firsthand the dangerous, illegal dealings, it was too late. He knew too much to simply walk away now. An uneasy truce was brokered - silence and complicity in exchange for maintaining his quiet existence. It wasn't the life Antoni wanted, but given the circumstances, it was the only way to cling to the little bit of peace he had carved out for himself. And so Antoni resigned himself to constantly looking over his shoulder, held captive by the criminal secrets of a family he never truly knew.[/indent]
