I still like the magic school plot. xD

Maybe we can add a dangerous twist to it? Perhaps students are contracting some sort of illness? Or for 'assignments' the students go on quests to have more romance opportunities? Since there is usually something different about the mains, how about them come from a snotty family? That way there's tension between them and the other characters. 

Of course, based on what you've told us already, you probably already have some great ideas for it! I just love the 'everyone hates the main' premise.
