Stretching from the northern steppes to the southern jungles. To the western deserts and the fertile east. A land that has stood the test of time and its people unwearying in their ability to thrive in this ancient land. But it was not always a peaceful land. Early in its history, the land was divided into petty chiefdoms and kingdoms. Ever warring with each other for control of land and resources. For centuries, it was like this until the coming of a young king named Shui Xun. Known today as the legendary Divine Conqueror. For Shui would do the impossible and unite the land after years of war and diplomacy. Becoming the first emperor of the Chi'in Empire. Ushering in a period of peace for the first time in the land and bringing about a new age. This age started a thousand years ago, or 0 AU. While much has happened since that day, emperors and empresses have come and gone. Various conflicts and internal strife. While there are lasting institutions within the empire. One of the more well-known and respected is the Azure Sentinels. An organization founded by splitting the Iron Guard order four hundred years ago, after the end of the Order of Spirit Wardens. The group's mission is to safeguard the land from internal threats. Both the mundane and the spiritual. Ranging from dealing with menacing bandits to hunting down an evil demon. Which the Azure Sentinels are trained at one of four academies within the empire and anyone can join as long they are able to pass the entry test. Then, they are trained in the ways of the Azure Sentinels as protectors and protect the land from threats. Learning magic, martial skills, and knowledge needed to fulfill their duties. Our tale will start at the Azure Sentinels Academy at Xianchun in the eastern province of Baotong. Where a new group of sentinel recruits have passed the entry test and now learn and train how to be an Azzune Sentinel. While unaware of the trials they will have to face. Both what the academy will throw at them and more. Rules: 1. Expected to follow standard site rules 2. No godmodding or powergaming or etc... 3. No OP characters 4. A max of one character 5. Minimum of one paragraph Overview Hello and welcome to the rp. So in this rp, you will be playing as new recruits of the Azure Sentinels and are attending one of their academies located on Guizou mountain, overlooking the city of Xianchun in the eastern province of Zhenmen. Since the Azure Sentinels allow anyone to join, whether peasant or noble, male or female, as long as they can pass the entry test. Which the entry test is a simple test that sees if the candidate has the potential to become an Azure Sentinel, both mentally and physically. But once a candidate passes the entry test, it is still possible to fail the academy and get kicked out. But besides that, I am looking for a max of seven players As for character backgrounds, I am going to let people add to the world, as it does not contradict what I have. Now, while the character should be a native of the Ch'in Empire. If anyone wished to play a character with foreign parents or foreign lineage Azure Sentinels The Azure Sentinels were formed four hundred years ago after the split of their initial organization, the Iron Guard. Which was formed by order of Empress Xinyi Xun after the end of the Spirit Wardens. As there was a need for an organization that would protect the land from threats, the Spirit Wardens, the group, would do this and sacrifice themselves to stop the coming very powerful demon known as the Black Death. A new organization was needed to replace them. This led to the formation of the Iron Guard, and for two centuries it protected the empire from threats. However, the Iron Guard, after a period of overextension, it was clear that changes had to be made. It was decided that the Iron Guard would be split into two groups, one called the Azure Sentinels, which would defend the empire from internal threats, and the other called the White Lotus. A group to defend the empire from external threats. For four hundred years, the Azure Sentinels have dealt with internal threats and have been stalwart in their duties. The last major threat to the empire was defeated ten years ago. The infamous Death Lotus Cult, a cult of necromancers who sought to become immortal and have their patron, the Dead Lord Zhihao, resurrected, and rule the world. They were stopped by the Azure Sentinels at great cost, and the cult would fail to resurrect Zhihao. The cult was destroyed, and the Sentinels are still recovering from their losses since that day. Still, the Sentinels are doing well and so far are thriving. Centered around the capital city of Yuesh, lies on a open field and near some mountains. While not the original capital of the Ch'in Empire, the city of Nanzou has that title. The Yueshu is the home of the current reigning dynasty, the Qiao, and is their ancestral seat. Yueshu, surprisingly, is only the second largest city in the empire, but is still the most developed thanks to great costs made by the Qiao family to further make their home city a city that deserved the title of being the capital of the Ch'in Empire. It boosts many buildings such as temples, schools, hospitals, monuments, and other places important for a major city. Plus, the royal palace where the current Ch'in Emperor Shuren Qiao resides. The central provinces are considered the core of the empire, and is where a good chunk of the population and industry reside. It is also the oldest part of the empire, as the central province of Jiangdao is the home province of the Divine Conqueror Shui Xun. Although the capital of the empire is no longer at Jiangdao, it still holds sway over the rest of the central provinces. Now, rather than being ruled by an Imperial Grand Governor like the rest of the provinces. The central provinces are ruled by the ruling family themselves, and the unofficial capital of the central provinces is the city of Mudanrao.

Northern Provinces While not as lush as the rest of the empire, you head north into the steppe. The northern provinces are still an important part of the empire. As the region has significant resources and rivers that aid in agriculture and forestry, but mainly in mineral deposits such as copper, iron, and other valuable metals. A mostly flat and hilly landscape bearing some mountains and forests along the coast that gives way to a large steppe to the north and the Green Sea to the east, but has few ports on its coast. The northern provinces were invaded and occupied by the Yesugei Khanate thirty years ago during the first Yesugei-Ch'in war that would see the Yesugeians pushed back to the steppe and the Northern Provinces liberated. Though the land has recovered since then, some places still bear the scars of the conflict, and the Yesugei Khanate still being around. It is a conflict that the people have not forgotten, and the few Yesugei clans that fled south before the war and now reside in the empire. Face problems, but for now, are a loyal member of the empire. The capital of the northern provinces is Zhenhai and is run by the Imperial Grand Governor Luoyang Geng. The second center of agriculture and a source of other resources, like jade. While a lush place, the southern provinces were once considered a dangerous place in the empire centuries ago. Due to the number of hostile wildlife and bandit camps that existed in the region. But thanks to reforms and a strong Azure Sentinel campaign. The region is now safe, though there are still reports of bandits and monsters in the region. Still, the region has been fought over by the Lĩnh Nam Empire and Ch'in Empire over the centuries, and the southern provinces still remained a part of the Ch'in Empire to this day. Plus, the region contains an indigenous people called the Lac. A people who are prized for their blacksmithing skills and known for their distinctive tattoos. Though the Lac are related to the main people and culture in the Lĩnh Nam Empire, some seek to unite the two peoples. The Lac are currently happy under Ch'in rule. The capital of the southern provinces is Shirao, and is run by Imperial Grand Governor Anh Phan, who is a member of the Lac people.

Western Provinces The Western Provinces bordering the large Javvi Desert, and while there is trade and resources in the region. It is the least populated region of the empire due to its arid nature, the further west you go, and past the Karadao Mountains. Still, it is possible to make a life here, and things do stand out. Most trade is conducted on the frontier, where the Desert Nomads bring exotic goods and animals from the other side of the desert to trade with the empire. This gives way to fishing grounds and overseas trade. The capital of the Eastern Provinces is Tengqiu, and the Eastern Provinces are run by the Imperial Grand Governor Rong Han.
Magic How magic works in this rp is that, people are able to harness an energy found in every living thing called chi. Everyone has chi, so anyone could choose to learn magic. It is just having the time and resources to do so, which limits who can learn magic. Thus, the average farmer or peasant would not be able to learn magic most of the time. But a noble or a well-privileged person could. Chi once spent will replenish naturally over time. Here are the different types of magic a person can learn.
The most common type of magic, elemental magic, is where by using your chi. You can control the elements. The elements are Earth, Air, Fire, Water, Ice, and Lightning. Which to use, the elements by either manipulating what is already around or by creating it from your chi. Now you cannot create all elements like earth for example. Bur you can create elements like fire or lightning. So, an elemental user needs to be aware of their element and their environment. However, while there are six elements, it is only possible to learn one element max.

Healing magic is a noble choice to pick, as users are allowed to use their chi to heal others. Ranging from healing simple cuts to a broken arm. But it has its limits, and not every injury can be healed. Severed limbs cannot be reattached and healed, and healing magic only works on physical injuries. Illness and poisons are unaffected by healing magic. Healing magic cannot be used to revive the recently dead. Since healing magic can only be used on the living. Plus, wounds too severe can be too much for healing magic to heal.

An uncommon form of magic. Transformation magic allows a user to manipulate their chi to change their form and transform into a new form. Now, what a user can transform into is limited, and they can not change their form into another person. But, they can transform into forms that take the shape and powers of a spirit or demon. While this can be powerful, it takes more time to learn and to master. Plus, it drains a user's chi in order to maintain the form, and it is best used when at full chi. Transformation Magic users are able to learn several forms but can only use one at a time, and while it is possible to switch forms during a fight or in a quick succession. It is considered impractical due to the significant loss of chi to transform twice.
Technology Now for the technology of the Ch'in Empire.
