Suki stumbled back, as in a strip of light, Spirit aimed himself at the beast, slamming into its chest. Light flared, seeming to envelop Sage, to cradle him. Suki went over to Erik, to Pakuna. She hefted Pakuna out of his grasp, and swung him up to her back. Pakuna instinctively wrapped his arms around her neck, legs around her waist. She had been doing this since he was a child.
