hey hi hello, here's a bump. is veilguard perfect? no. is it a good game? that's subjective, but i liked it! (tbh, given the development hell it went through, i'm giving it a lot more credit than i would have otherwise.) but anyways!!! we got some crazy lore drops!!!! and there's a lot of good meat in the game that has me chomping at the bit to dig into and explore further.
veilguard did the same mistake as inquisition and started in the wrong spot. the rook origins are so good, and tbh all of those should have been the prequel/tutorial for the game and the first act should have been building up to the solas ritual. and like... playing that out sounds like a fun plot hook to me, don't you know? like, hell, not even playing the rook that does all the fuckery. there's a lot of meat in playing others in the faction cleaning up rook's mess. anyways, here's some rambles that resemble plot prompts/hooks if you squint real hard. um!!! the shadow dragons!!! my fav. they're wonderful. docktown rules, i adore minrathous. (also did you know that saving treviso as a shadow dragon is the worst?? i've never gone back on a bioware choice in the same playthrough before, and i did it here) anyways i wanna play in their pre-veilguard adventures. rivain is so underdeveloped, but that just means we have more space for activities bay beeeee! also the spirit of adventure is the best. the crows are so wildly different than in origins that i'm like, okay, let's explore how this makes sense in canon. was house arainai an outlier?? if it was, holy shiiiiiit. zevran was canonically clearing house of shitty talons and crows, and oh hey what a nice plot hook that makes. if house arainai's barbarism was in fact the norm, it follows that the current generation of talons like viago and teia (my queen) lived through the same kind of horrors. so there's tasty meat in them choosing to take their houses in the opposite direction, trying to make everything better and shit. n e v a r r a my belooovveeedd the grand necropolis is begging to be explored, like, literally. also like wow, orlais' hate boner for nevarra makes so much more sense now, huh. nevarra being about as equally lip-service to the chantry as rivain wasn't on my bingo card, but i love it. wardens, as always, rule and are made of plot hooks.
if you're interested in playing anything dragon age (not just veilguard adjacent adventures), shoot me a pm. i'm happy to provide sample posts if you want to vibe check my writing style, too.
