After a brief stint in juvenile detention, however, she was released and put into foster care, a situation that she quickly ran away from. The universe must have been looking out for her, however, as she found James and Max by random chance at a strip mall, with her own actions (he will never admit it) resulting in them having to flee into the Morlock tunnels to avoid the police. A brief stint with the Morlocks led to them then joining up with the Mutant Underground, and later on relocating to the mutant homeland of Genosha. It was there that Sunshine met her wife, Marrow, and finally found a place where she could feel safe, surrounded by her chosen family. In the wake of Genosha's destruction, Sunshine and Marrow decided to work as members of X-Force, under the direction of the Red Queen of the Hellfire Club.
