Yes, the larger the object you channel Aura through, the more exhausting it is. Covering a weapon, one's body or armor, AND the gate OR a single wall of a fortress might [i]just[/i] be doable, but not for the stretch of an entire battle without killing the user. If you want to go for a bloodbath at a chokepoint where the monsters just can't get past her, it's more likely she just kept them from getting through the gate/breaching the wall by stacking bodies all around her while being a whirling storm of death.
