I've made a few changes to the original post. And information that was removed in the original has been moved into this hider.
Welcome. I'm back again and I've been fiending to try something new. I don't own or use a computer and this may effect thread development as well as my writing style. I'm gonna throw this out there early because I would like to gauge general interests towards the Warhammer 40k fandom. Lately, I have spent a considerable amount of time reading 40k novels and I have been enjoying painting my first army. It's been really cool. I was wondering if anyone else might be interested in later participating or perhaps presently collaborating to get something like this going. Right now, I am working out the initial core concepts and the world-building for the setting of this story. Some key areas I would like to highlight are listed below. These are defining aspects that motivate me personally regarding this project.

Oops. The title artwork of this thread says "Warhanmer" 😔✊️

This is an everyman's (and women) world. I chose the title of "Nameless" not necessarily as a placeholder, but because originally I desired to begin a Roleplay following a unit of Death Korps of Krieg. And these ordinary – with 'ordinary' doing a ton of heavy lifting – if highly trained and effective humans are essentially nameless and thankless in their duties. However, I wasn't sure if there would be that many people willing to Roleplay virtually cloned characters, absurdly militant and sterilized, whose only purpose is to fight and die as fast and as efficiently as possible.

I've pivoted on the idea to instead follow a more generalized Imperial Guard detachment. This could consist of, for example, a Steel Legion unit, or mixed regiment supplementing the planet, or a fully homebrewed garrison.

This is to say our efforts will be centric to the average citizens, servants, soldiers and agents of the Imperium. No Space Marines, sorry. But, there will be a main thread, or secondary narrative depending on the interests being checked here, that follows the misadventure of an illegitimate Rogue Trader scoundrel. I am willing to consider unique character ideas or backgrounds that could be integrated into the Rogue Trader's retinue. And this raises a possible point of priority regarding this story's direction. Which would you like to see more, a warfighting-heavy spotlight on Imperial Guard characters stationed in defense of this frontier planet? Or, an adventuring main party attached to a Rogue Trader on a mythological quest to uncover this world's secrets? Would it even be possible to balance both of these approaches?

The prologue to our story will optionally begin with three minor subplots. This should serve to establish the cast of player characters, giving them opportunities to showcase their abilities and dispositions. The foremost of this starting point will be an investigation into an elusive Genestealer Cult, uprooting its masters, and consequentially destroying their patriarch and scattering the subversive aliens. This creates an early goal to triumph over which will give us chances to explore our characters, locations such as the influential Verlorenhive, the abandoned Hollowspire, and feel out how different parts – including military, policing and administrative apparatuses – of an Imperial society function. Another subplot of interest will be examining the social and political landscape that transforms during the cyclical march to midnight. Every decade or so, as this deathworld makes its orbit, the lighted and nighted parts of the planet slowly switch. In places like Verlorenhive, this is a painful process that involves many layers of society working together to prepare and endure this several year long seasonal darkness. For example, fearing the elevated mobility and influence the rumored Genestealer infestation typically gains during the extended nocturne, the seats of power in Verlorenhive are at odds to crush this threat with urgency or risk the monster becoming too entrenched. And thirdly, we can also take a look at how the somewhat vassalized or temporarily domesticated nomadic tribes of native hunters, gatherers and scavengers interact with the Imperium that cohabitates their deathworld. How might this tenuous relationship improve, or will it degrade into conflict again?

So, I was wondering if these ideas might garner interests. I thought of trying a 1x1 but really I prefer smaller groups and could always try something else in the future, depending. I have a broader main plot in the works that will inevitably drag the planet into a state of war, however again I am feeling out different possibilites first. What might you be looking for? A compelling series of characters of different backgrounds played out in several locations, circles and paces simultaneously in pursuit of a larger narrative scope? Or, is it easier and more enjoyable to boil it down to a single party thats united by its service to the Guard whose mission is simple; to eliminate the enemies of the Imperium. What do you think? If you have any questions or ideas I will be around to discuss things further. I am more active on Discord. And for anybody wondering I am also planning to eventually finish that Fallout Roleplay, so there's that.
