Ocean knew he felt out of place and overwhelmed - they both did - so she let him do as he pleased before excusing himself. She dropped her bag on the cabin porch and did a little inspection for herself, though instead of looking for dangerous ambushes, she was looking for things that might need to be fixed up. Andy had mentioned that the cabins change with each owner- Ocean was interested to see if this cabin would reflect her personality. The cabin was wooden and painted a baby blue color. It kind of reminded her of her house on the beach back in Hawai’i. It had windows with white trim and a wrap around deck- also painted white. Ocean decided she’d like to get some lounge chairs for the warmer months… assuming she’d be here that long. Poseidon never gave her a timeframe and she didn’t know if River got one. He never told her anything. She walked into the cabin and was pleased to see that the interior was modern and practical. White walls, wooden floorboards and a cute seashell pink runner-rug along the floor. There were two bedrooms, a living room, a kitchen and a bathroom. Ocean felt excited over the prospect of having her own space away from her brother and her mom. She brought her bag in and placed it in the bigger room before leaving the cabin to make her way to what she assumed was the main hall. Her stomach growled and she hoped there was food. River was in charge of packing snacks and to her surprise (not), he forgot to include them. She cut through the trees and deep snow behind her cabin and walked along the path until she saw the big field and what looked like horse stables. Ocean grew excited over the prospect of there being horses. Out of every creature she was able to talk to, horses were the most fun. Her stomach growled again and she made a mental note to come back and see if any horses actually occupied the building. When she rounded the big field, Ocean saw a few people -girls and guys- standing near the main office. Some of them looked confused and out of place- Ocean assumed they were new like her. While most of them looked dressed appropriately for the weather, there was one guy who sported a bruised face and a singular hoodie. Ocean winced when she imagined the amount of cold water that must be soaking into his pants. She was suddenly even more grateful for her ability to remove the water from her clothes. Another man walked further into the camp with a girl by his side. He held baggies of what looked like snacks in his hands. At least someone came prepared. A part of her wanted to go up and say hi, but she didn’t know what she was doing and doubted she’d be any help to them, so she continued on to the main hall. The smell of food invaded her nostrils and she had to stop herself from rushing. The last thing she wanted was to embarrass herself and be known as the crazy food girl. She had to make a good first impression. Ocean grabbed a cup of coffee and a bowl of oatmeal before finding an empty table to sit at. Most of the tables were empty and Ocean realized that most people must just be waking up and getting ready for the day. Ocean wished she could have slept in a little, but she and River had been traveling since last night. First on a plane (which Ocean was terrified of. She would’ve preferred going by boat but that would’ve taken ages), and then hiking to camp early this morning. Walking to her table, Ocean noticed another table that she hadn't before that had a woman sitting at it. She was eating her breakfast as well and Ocean gave her a small smile and a wave before sitting at her own table- a few tables down from the woman. Ocean poured an obscene amount of sugar and cinnamon in her oatmeal before taking a bite and smiling as it warmed her up and filled her belly. She thought about what she’d do for the rest of the day and decided that she might go for a swim in River’s heated pool. With or without his permission. It was weird not living by the ocean and by a lake instead, but she couldn’t complain.
