Name: Soren [s]Bellecourt[/s] Virelle Age: 19 Gender: Male (The scandal! I know!) Appearance: Soren stands at 5’9” with a slender, willowy build, a fair skin complexion, and soft features. He has short wavy dark purple hair, and expressive violet eyes that run in his family and hint at his heritage. Personality: Soren is gentle, thoughtful, and empathetic. Traits often mistaken for weakness in the world he was born into. Soft-spoken and slow to trust, he tends to observe more than speak, choosing his words carefully. He prefers to avoid conflict when he can. That said, he possesses a quiet determination. Once he sets his heart on something, he won’t be easily swayed. He is still mourning the death of his mother and mentor, whose teachings live on in everything he does. Her belief in him shapes the way he moves through the world. He believes in the goodness of others, and carries a deep respect for magic as something sacred and intimate. While magic in this world is deeply tied to femininity, Soren doesn’t shy away from that association, he embraces it. His strength comes not from overpowering others, but from his ability to heal, to protect, and to endure. He finds power in softness and wields it proudly. Beneath the calm, however, Soren is full of feeling. He longs for connection, aches to be accepted, and sometimes wonders if there truly is a place for someone like him. He has a dry (some would say sassy) sense of humor that really only comes out when he feels comfortable. Abilities: Soren is a White Magic specialist, particularly skilled in protective barriers, healing, and purification. He excels at shielding others and mending both magical and physical wounds, often using his magic as a way to connect and care for those around him. He also possesses a latent, emotionally triggered affinity for Black Magic. When overwhelmed by fear or anger, his magic can twist and lash out uncontrollably, manifesting in ways he neither understands nor chooses. These reactions are rare but powerful, ranging from shadowy backlashes to draining auras or sudden curses. He does not fully understand this part of himself, and it scares him. Skills: Soren’s empathy makes him a surprisingly good judge of people, even if he’s hesitant to act on it. He’s a comforting presence when others are overwhelmed, and often notices when someone is struggling before they say anything. He cleans when he’s nervous, likes sewing and mending, and he is good at cooking and brewing tea Equipment: He has his wand and his broom that once belonged to his mother. His mother was working on making a witch arm for him, but she died before she could complete it. Brief Backstory: Soren is the secret grandson of grand witch Lucia. The only child of Caelia Virelle, a grand witch in her own right. His existence was seen as a problem. Boys weren’t meant to be witches. In order to protect her reputation, Lucia chose not to acknowledge him. He wasn’t allowed to use the family name, Bellecourt. His mother however raised him in secret. She trained him in magic, particularly white magic, and loved him no matter his gender. Six months ago, Caelia died under suspicious circumstances. The Society claimed it was a magical accident. Soren believes otherwise. Now, with no official place in the Moon Circle Society and no recognition of his lineage, Soren clings to what little he has: his mother’s teachings, her wand and her broom. He lives at the edges of the Society. Some witches allow him to help with missions, out of respect for his mother, calling him an “unofficial assistant.” Soren accepts this. He doesn’t want revenge. He doesn’t even want power. He just wants to be accepted.
