Fascinating! I suppose, then, that being healed of miasma 'quick enough' helps one avoid the changes miasma corruption then? Or would doing something like removing a malfested limb, if it was all that has been changed so far, also be a sort of viable measure to stemming a case and stopping its progression? A combination approach of such things, perhaps? Hmm...and for that matter, is there a 'threshold wherein someone can be saved from miasma corruption' that, once gone past, is a sure point for one turning into a monster or such things? Beyond that, I wonder if anyone could, hmm, have 'partial necromancy' applied to them in a sense. I mean something like a limb dying or rotting away, and then the necromancer uses Thaumaturgy to block infection spread but uses a necromantic approach to 'save' the limb and keep it attached to the living body. Or, perhaps, taking a dead limb and attaching it to the body of a living person like a graft to replace a lost limb? Would such a thing be viable, and would something like a cool magical skeleton arm be possible, or would it be stupid/dangerous or otherwise not possible? Though would there also potentially be a way to 'animate' a corpse or skeleton without the need of dredging up or conjuring a soul or cursed spirit for the job? Would a Galdr user, for example, be able to 'animate' it using a generic spirit of some kind or some sort of spiritual energy instead to turn it into a souless animated 'construct' perchance? :hmm Ah, and thank you! I do enjoy the Q&A, its been thought-provoking! Though I have had a character idea or two come into my brain now, only one of those pertaining to the asked questions admittedly, but idk if any of them would be viable to submit or if I'd sound/look like an edgy (even if attempting to be quality with it or something) or just silly dunce. ^^;
Your questions in regards to Miasma and how one would treat it in certain case are as you theorize. Depending on where on the body and how strong the exposure is can dictate that things like whether a counterspell healing the affected area or a full amputation are needed. A point about the world's laws is that a person's mind, body, and soul are all one. How strong one aspect is also relate to the other, and also determine how much resistance they have to the corrupting effects of miasma. Also, wounds afflicted to the mind and soul specifically require a different method of therapy as opposed to typical methods of physical healing. Miasma causes madness within a person's mind in worst case scenarios, delirium and violent tendencies in the beginning stages. The quality of the state of being I stated earlier also translates to how one would reanimate a corpse. When a person dies normally, their mind and soul separate from the body and form the metaphysical aspect of their consciousness, and is to ascend to the Pure Lands where it will enter the cycle of reincarnation and rebirth. Or, if the person is a bastard, it will fall to Narra'ka to be purified in the fires of Hell and other trials before it can enter cycle of reincarnation. Spirits can even be stuck in Purgatory, unable to truly pass on to the afterlife due to one reason or another. These are just some of the things a skilled necromancer consider, in addition to the state of the body and how strong the person was in life. Depending on how strong or how much mana the person had in life, this also affects the bond their mind and soul have with their body. This essentially means that a strong enough person can break free of the control a necromancer has over them. It usually isn't effective to use a small wisp or the spirit of an animal to reanimate the corpse of a humanoid being, due to compatibility issues. Some may use another person as a sacrifice, using their essence to will the corpse into being. But, even the person used in the sacrifice may have their will lose out to the will of the body if the latter is too strong. Of course, Espermancy is also an option, controlling bodies via psychic threads like a puppet master and their marionettes. Of course, strength of will theory still applies. I hope that also helps state your curiosity! 😁
