Hello hello. I'm Ynys Afalon, and I'm brand spankin' new on this site as of this post, so please excuse any awkwardness as I get used to things around here. I figured it wouldn't hurt to start a search thread right away. My interests change pretty often, usually reflecting current plot cravings or hyperfixations, so don't be shocked if I'm always changing things around, haha. What you can expect from me: - First and foremost: fun! I'm here for a good time, and I want the same for my partners. The last thing I want is for our RP to feel like a job. - 20 years of RP experience. Yup, you read that right: 20! I've been roleplaying since my early teens, with some breaks in between. - Engaging responses that move the story along. I dislike post length requirements; I find they usually do more harm than good. But I promise to always give you something good to reply to. - Enthusiastic worldbuilding, character development, and fun extras like pinboards and playlists. - Transparency. If something isn't working for me, I'll tell you so we can work together to find what isn't gelling and fix it. - Patience. Real life happens, and I'll never hassle you for replies. I may check in with you if it's been a while, but never to put pressure on you. - OOC conversation. I love making friends with my partners, so if you're someone who is only here for business, we probably won't be compatible. What I want from you: - Be an adult. I'm only interested in roleplaying with folks 21 or older. I'm over 30 years old, so playing with kids is awkward and uncool for me. - Initiative. There's nothing more disappointing to me than a partner whose posts are only reactionary and don't add anything to the story. - Honesty. Tell me if something about our game isn't appealing, whether you want to fix it or just call it quits. I won't take it personally. - Decent grammar and writing skills. I don't expect novellas or perfection, but creativity is a must. - Tell me what you want. When you contact me, please have some idea of what you want to play, even if it's just one or two of my wordbank words or an OC you want to play. What I do not want: - Sexual content. I'm married and asexual, so I don't enjoy writing sex scenes. Fade-to-black is fine, as is sensuality, but the moment the clothes come off, the curtain drops. - Abusive situations. Our characters can have abuse in their backstories, but I will not roleplay abusive relationships. - Infidelity. This is an absolute, immediate dealbreaker. - AI and plagiarism. Original content only. - M/F pairings. Just not my jam, sorry. - Most fandoms. I have a setting and a character for it. But please only ask for this if you intend to really sink your teeth into it.
Ten years ago, King Malgern's court Mage was exiled from the kingdom of Neothas for practicing forbidden magic. Why he did it and whatever became of him, no one ever learned, but his name became synonymous with hubristic self-destruction, whispered as a curse or a story to scare children. The Knight, who was still a squire when it happened, never gave it a second thought beyond that. Now a decorated member of the king's personal guard, he has his entire life spread out before him. Until the King is assassinated on his watch: an event he has no memory of. All he knows is that he awoke with blood on his hands and his sword, and that traces of magic — which the knight doesn't know — were found in the King's chambers. With the help of some comrades who don't believe he was responsible for the murder, the knight has managed to escape into the neighboring kingdom, where he only has one lead to follow: the exiled mage, once famed as a genius and the dead King's dear friend.
Home Is Where You Are Keywords: childhood friends to lovers; slice of life; mutual pining My character: The Homebody Pairing: M// Notes: This one is pretty bare-bones, and largely depends on the characters we bring to it. Pretty much everything is flexible, and it can be as fluffy or as dark as we like.
It's a classic story: two best friends, polar opposites yet close as brothers, with a dream to leave their tiny town far behind in search of fame and glory. They make a promise to run away together when they're old enough. But things rarely go the way we plan when we're young, and lives and dreams change. High school came and went, and when the time came for them to take the leap, only one had the courage to do so. Years go by, and the Golden Boy has realized his dreams. Fame, riches, everything he ever wanted in the palm of his hand. His face is plastered all over his hometown, never mind that they haven't seen him once since he left so long ago. Nobody really bothers to remember that the Homebody was once his best friend, even though he never left at all. He stayed behind, too afraid to take the risk of leaving, and built a simple but reliable life: a job, a house, even a failed marriage. Nothing remarkable at all. One day, the town is abuzz with the news: the golden boy is coming home! Rumors abound as to why: he's shooting a movie, he's donating money, he's running for mayor. But the truth is much darker than that. His perfect dream of a life is crumbling around him, and the only thing he could do was run back home. Of course, in a town as small as theirs, it's only a matter of time before the old friends meet again.
I'm not sure how people prefer to contact each other here, so I guess either tag me or PM me?
