I must admit I'm somewhat confused about why all the place names on the map are in a box in the top left corner, as opposed to on the spots that bear the corresponding name.
So from what I've gathered, Daggerheart encourages the idea of collective world-building, where I lay down a map and we go round the table marking locations on the map. Those locations would normally be ones we each come up with, but it seems each of the campaign frame maps come with their own list of possible locations. Once everyone's character sheets are done and we've covered connection questions, we can look to adding locations to our map. We can either use the stock ones on the side (or some of them at least) and/or make up our own. I imagine, for example, characters might want to put their home villages/towns or landmarks associated with their backstory... or just something that sounds like a cool place to visit. Plus, the map has just enough detailed that you might see a spot on the map and come up with an idea of what that place may be. For example, I might mark where the village of Alula is, since that's our starting place, or a sacred area associated with one of the deities. We don't have to fill up the entire map, it's encouraged that we leave blank spaces, but a few starting locations are good.
