Once Kali and Althea had trekked deep inside the inverted temple, she turned to her to hear Althea divulge her anxiety and worries about Zac accompanying Zuko and Aang to the Sun Warrior civilization. She listened to her quietly, nodding here and there to express her agreement. Once Althea had finished, Kali took a deep breath with her. "I'm also worried for that exact reason," Kali said. She talked slowly and deliberately. It wasn't often Althea and she got to converse like this, so she wanted to make the most of this opportunity. "But, I think we're worrying a little too much." "The chances of Zac having an episode are unlikely. I mean, this dark force doesn't just take him over whenever. It's triggered. If you and me are going to stay here, I don't think there will be anything to provoke him," she explained. She took a brief moment to push some loose strands of hair out of her face, which had traces of ash here and there. "Still," she continued, "I think it's a good idea to tell Aang and Zuko beforehand. The two of them are pretty powerful—probably more than we are. If Zac does lose it, they should be able to quell his rage. And you're right; I know the entire point of this trip is for learning about their own powers, but the same principle applies to Zac too." She paused and bit her lip, feeling anxious about what she was about to say next. "The battle we just had—" Kali began quietly. "Zac, he... Well, he didn't lose it like he did in the Land of Fire, but I noticed something was off about him when he got that sudden burst of energy to finally take down that Heartless. I'm scared Althea. I think he believes he's strong enough to control and use the incredible power of the darkness. But I know he's not. No one is. Darkness... Pure darkness... It could drive him mad." Kali's speech wavered for a third time. Her eyes drifted away from her green-haired friend and seemed to stare off into the distance somewhere above and to the right of Althea. "I had an encounter with the darkness." Her voice was nearly a whisper. Her eyes didn't move. "It was when I was knocked out momentarily..." Her eyes slowly came back into focus and came back to Althea. Kali's face was firm but within her eyes a brunette girl stood wracked with fear. "I—I don't remember what it told me," she lied casually, as she didn't want to reveal the true words the swirling blackness had hissed to her. "But it was frightening. I had never been so scared before in my life. It made me feel so weak, so helpless, so insignificant... I can't even begin to imagine how the darkness is effecting Zac."
