When she’d joined the other two, she thought she caught the tail end of them talking about hair, but at the same time, she’d not wanted to feel like she had overheard their conversation, so she’d decided not to bring it up. Though she couldn’t help but glance back and forth between them as she compared their hairstyles, becoming slightly concerned that they’d think she was acting strange, so she tried to focus on their eyes while each was speaking instead. She’d continued to skate along with them almost leisurely, even if her legs were starting to ache from her earlier exercise and from being out of practice on the ice.

[color=9966cc]”hi, and it is nice to meet you too. My name is Sofia, and I have not ice skated in a while, so I am rusty. So do not feel bad about it.[/color] 

She nodded in gratitude to Sofia for her kind comment, giving her a nervous but warm smile in return.

[color=f1724b]”You're doing fine, Veronica. At least you got out here. And don't worry, I'll help you stay on your feet. I am fast after all with great reflexes hehe. So what have you been up to Veronica? I've seen you hang out around Iliana and Heath. Have you tried getting to know Wes better?”[/color] The mention of her brother gave her pause; the whole concept was still alien to her, having grown up as an only child in an uncaring household. Should she have been spending more time with Wes? Not as if there’d really been much chance since she’d only been getting out of her cabin properly in the past month, but she hadn’t even spoken to him before or after the duels, and then there’d not been much time. They’d talked a little while she was recuperating, but nothing major or meaningful really, almost going as far as to discuss the weather. Maybe she’d have to speak with him and arrange to do something together and get to know each other better. At least she only had the one sibling to worry about, and even then, that was already feeling a little overwhelming for her. 

[color=B300B3]”Not a lot, I’m still recovering a little. And still getting used to spending time with people more. As for Wes the answer is barely, like I don’t know what to say to him or how to act. I never had siblings before, so I’m just not good at all of this.”[/color] She gestured vaguely around her indicating the camp environment as a whole and then shrugged half-heartedly before continuing [color=B300B3]”But, thank you both for the reassurance, I’m feeling very out of practice even if I’m also very tempted to go crazy with a jump or something but my muscles are already annoyed at me as it is.”[/color] she couldn’t help but giggle, perhaps a little too uat her self-depreciating view of her own abilities while Nelly turned back to Sofia to make sure that she felt included in their conversation.

[color=f1724b]"How are you liking camp so far Sofia?  If you need help getting around, just ask me, my dad is Hermes and he blessed me with perfect visual memory.”[/color]

Veronica could tell that Sofia had slowed her pace, and there was a tiny voice at the back of her head mumbling all sorts of warnings, such as how she'd done it to patronise or pity her. She knew from past experience that she had to force down such negative thoughts before they rose louder than a whisper or they'd overwhelm her.

[color=9966cc]”so far, I am liking camp. First day here and there is a party, so I cannot complain really. I think I get it handled, but Hermes being your father is cool.”[/color] 

There was a brief pause in their conversation while they were just skating together, while the snow fell gently around them, which was calming for Veronica, and she was enjoying the relaxed feeling of sharing the time on the ice. While her confidence had certainly fluctuated a lot since arriving at the party, she also didn’t feel ill at ease around the other two. Though Sofia then decided to break the silence, it didn’t detract from the relaxed atmosphere. 

[color=9966cc]”Are camp parties always like this, or is this an exception?”[/color] Veronica looked down slightly at them, her gaze shifting from Sofia over to Nelly while she thought about her answer, then back to Sofia. She shrugged, her face scrunching up a little before she spoke [color=B300B3]”Err, I wouldn’t actually know, um, this is my first one so far. But it’s already an improvement on my first couple of days in camp. Which were like, what? One day of everyone having to fight duels, then spending the night being attacked by monsters.”[/color] She tried to give Sofia a reassuring smile as she continued. [color=B300B3]”I’m sure that won’t happen tomorrow night... probably. Though Nelly might be able to tell you better than I could as far as past parties go.”[/color] 

She was curious herself about what other parties the camp had hosted prior to her own arrival and was wondering what Nelly would be able to tell them.  

[color=B300B3]”You both look stunning tonight, your outfits are stunning and I’m half wondering if I’m dressed too casual”[/color] She could feel panic rising after her earlier indecision as she decided to throw caution to the wind and say what was on her mind anyway [color=B300B3]”I’m not sure exactly what you two were saying earlier but I’d like to say I think your hair is very eye-catching, Sofia. Your freckles stand out beautifully against the white colour.”[/color] Veronica's compliment was meant to be entirely platonic towards the almost stranger she’d just met, but that didn’t stop the faint flush of pink to her cheeks.
