Not startled but surprised and ready for it to escalate potentially. “I know,” he repeated with more composure. Trinity mimicked his calm down subconsciously, shoulders slackening slightly. “Don’t compare me to him.” A hard line seemed to be drawn. Apparently, she dared to venture it upset Mason deeply to be in context with Ajax like that. Good. “I can acknowledge I’m faulty. Big time. But me and him don’t even belong in the same sentence like that.” Trinity watched Mason frisk himself frantically, probably for one his twigs. Mason didn’t exactly keep his dislike for the Valises under wraps. She could see how being compared to a person you hated would boil someone’s blood. Trinity opened her mouth to respond. Something like ‘well be mountains apart from him in the boyfriend department then’ But the show was over and something new came over Mason. “Does Andy think I’m the same?” She crossed her arms and shrugged. A big part of her wanted to answer with a blunt yes but that wasn’t quite true and she didn’t want to give him false information. “It’s similar circumstances,” she emphasized for his precious ego. Trinity even left out that’s what Andy thought because she paraphrased. Andy had asked her if she was falling into the same situation but Trinity didn’t leave any gray area for Mason. Trinity had been pretty hard on him. Rightfully so. But she was able to find a nice medium to keep conversation going. More like say her piece but all the same to her. “I want to. I mean I’m trying but I don’t even know if I can hug her or kiss her… or just give her space. If you know what she wants me to do, tell me. Please. Because I’m lost.” A brow quirked up. Now he wanted to use manners and be vulnerable..ish. She let him stew on it before it was her turn to sigh. No she didn’t know what Andy wanted him to do. “There’s no Andy rulebook,” she told him bluntly. Watching him at a total loss was too sad a show. Why was she so soft on her friends? “But, not much is accomplished by silence and distance.” Trinity wasn’t recommending he go scoop her up in his arms and kiss her passionately but hopefully he could read between the lines. “You don’t have to take a backseat. Show some backbone.” She hit his shoulder. That was around the time she got distracted by his look. He gave a sarcastic laugh before answering. “None of what the self-nominated camp counsellor recommended said dress like this. I don’t need his advice or 'recommendations' anyway.” He even scoffed, looking off in some distance. Trinity narrowed her eyes. “Easy,” she warned Mason, her own tone getting prickly. “None of it's his business.” Mason resumed. “Or yours.” Trinity pulled a face and nodded her head side to side. Hard to believe but he had a semi point. “True. Except when you see someone you adore in turmoil, you’re not gonna just sit by. At least I’m not going to.” It would be nice if Mason could step up for those he loved from time to time and put his neck out a little. Mason gestured to an area and Trinity turned her head with him to spot Wes by cornhole. She smiled initially. “Shouldn't he be more focused on his relationship with you and the lack of arm?” The smile dispersed, unsure if that should bother her. “Hmm well...” Before some off-handed train of thought could develop Mason continued. “Or has he been too focused on Alex leaving?” Trinity’s eyes hardened again. Wes and Alex did have a close relationship and it did bug her at times. “I would hope not,” she said through her teeth at the unwarranted thought. She took a breath to compose herself and continued. “I’ve asked and tried to be the sympathetic partner, because they were friends but he seems okay.” All the inflections and snark from Mason seemed familiar and before she could pry just what his problem was with Wes now – why he reserved that Valis snark for him — “You both look great.” Blair waltzed towards them in something that barely qualified as clothes. Trinity looked off and sighed through her nose, having to pause her grilling, otherwise she might’ve taken the compliment more on board. “Especially you, Mason.” The brunette’s eyes all but devoured him. Now, Mason wasn’t Trinity’s, but there was still a deep urge to push Blair away or step up to her intimidatingly. You didn’t eye another girl’s guy like he was dessert openly. “I know, I know. ‘Never gonna happen’. Look, the whole camp knows there’s trouble in paradise, and who am I to get in the way of true love?” Trinity squinted waiting for the catch. To her knowledge Blair had backed off Wes relatively quickly but there had to be a but. Blair didn’t seem the kind to sweep it aside nobly. “But if that—” she twinkled her fingers towards the bar. Towards Andy. “—falls through, my bed is always open.” There it was. While unusually quiet, she let it be their interactions and see how he dealt with Blair on the prowl. Not to say if things got touchy or distasteful she wouldn’t get involved. “Anyway, toodles!” Trinity raised a hand lazily as a half-assed wave goodbye. She looked at Mason and scoffed. Blair really left little to the imagination. Visually and circumstantially. “Anyway,” she began, trying not to let Blair's showing up deter her. Or him. “What’s your problem with Wesley?” [sup] interactions ....|....Mason, Blair ............... mentions ....|.... Andy, Wes ............... collabs ....|.... none [/sup]
[sup] #ffc300 ....|..... outfit .....|..... Cornhole/Ladderball > Bar [/sup] She smiled and nodded once at praise received for her shot. Her suggestion of teams to get the game going earned her a comment from Wes. “I see how it is. You don’t want the cripple on your team slowing you down.” She laughed softly. “We might even the scores out, but I don’t know if I can risk it,” she teased back. Though perhaps that was in poor taste among a group who didn’t know she didn’t actually care about winning. However, the picture became painfully obvious when another demigod approached, as did, what must have been, the daughter of Aphrodite’s character. Suddenly the idea of the whole game was lame to her when the darker skinned male arrived, and even the likes of Elysium and Wes no longer existed or became on her appease list. Additionally, the new fellow was no better. On one hand it was admirable to be unapologetic for what you wanted but it was also a very shallow immediate want and both were completely stripped of common courtesy. Fortifying that was a bag levitating in the air that then flew straight through the hole. She checked quickly between Wes and Elysium if they were equally as disturbed by whatever was unfolding nearby. It seemed they had a shared response. Though Wes was proving more open about his disgust. Thankfully, there were more than a few distractions occurring. It was still the early hours of the party or so she perceived, maybe the alcohol had carried some time, but she spied a few disputes. Subtle ones and less subtle ones. No less fueled by raw emotion though. She even caught Sylas by Sloane. She didn’t see much of any one interaction, the closest converse proving hard to block out, but whenever Sylas and Sloane got together, it didn’t exude love, respect or kindness. Then there were the trials of each of the Astors, exposing the threat they perceived in one another. Chariselle and Azariah's exchange drifted to the forefront again. She desperately wanted one of the boys to initiate their own conversation or physically block them out with their bodies because the unabashed pair were sticking out their chests ridiculously. 'Look what I can do, actually I'm the prize, you better work for it.' Things that made even Evelyn struggle not to grimace or roll her eyes at. “You want to chase me? That’s step one, girl.” Evelyn covered her mouth to stop a protest from erupting from her mouth. If somebody flirted with her and then addressed her as girl, it would yank her from the moment. Not that Azariah or Chariselle ever had anything deep or sincere at this rate. “Why chase when what I have is on offer? I’m new to this camp and I assume you are as well. Perhaps we can help each other and benefit from one another's efforts. From what I have heard so far, there’s lots to enjoy here and plenty of drama to feed any rumor mill for years.” “Rumors… That’ll be fun.” Did they have any awareness how close they were and what they were admitting to out loud? Any chance or appeal with Wes, herself and Elysium launched into oblivion and now they all knew what drama leeches they were. They didn't just have shallow needs, they were shallow people. Usually Evelyn was interested in getting to know the demigods but those two put themselves in neon light warning signs. “This party is awfully boring, don’t you think?” “How would you know? You’ve been here 2 seconds and stared at her tits for most of it,” Wes retorted. Evelyn's eyes widened. Certainly, she may have had the same knee-jerk reaction but she didn't speak it like Wes did. She didn't think he was so confrontational. They must have struck him the wrong way. The two voted on leaving mercifully and everybody seemed glad for it. Openly expressing it once again was Wes. “Oh thank the Gods! Please, go. You have my blessing. I hope it is wildly unsatisfying.” An amused smile flickered on her lips when it shouldn't have. It was just wishing somebody a bad experience was extremely precise and targeted, and such an undercredited ill wish. If Evelyn was feeling petty enough she might've even cursed them for a bad time. Not that they didn't ask for it. “It seems like we are a trio,” Elysium announced pleasantly, calm and level as ever. Evelyn smiled warmly, matching him. “Either we can play, you two against me, or we can go get something to drink?” “I’m fine to still play… But I do need a drink after all—” Wes motioned to where the unpleasant couple had been “—that. Or a lobotomy. One of you wouldn’t happen to have an ice pick?” Evelyn pursed her lips and shook her head deliberately slow. “Fresh out.” Then she flashed a smile before nodding to the bar. “I'm also in favor of a drink currently.” Evelyn finished what remained in her cup quickly. There was no pressure but she didn't want to clutter her space and needed to shake that encounter. She travelled towards the bar, glancing at Elysium. “I hope it's not always this hard to get someone to participate in games with you.” Because that had become a task and a half. Typically, Evelyn didn't joke as much but something about the two men put her at ease. Wes oozed comfort and Elysium radiated safety. The two combined with their passive skills could make a high-dopamine cocktail. She imagined how easy it would be to get wrapped up in the company that was easy to be around and offered base levels of security seamlessly. It was a bizarre effect. But incredibly appealing. After all, what person didn't want to have their basic needs met effortlessly? Evelyn only hoped it didn't take too much of a hold of her. But she did allow herself to enjoy it in the meantime. Evelyn threw her cup in the bin and wandered around the bar to craft her own concoction. Juice, grenadine, tequila. “So, what are our predictions for tomorrow?” She asked, landing on a tequila sunrise. It wasn't very wintery themed or extravagant but it added nice colors to the environment and bar top. Her eyes scanned the party. Most seemed to be drinking sensibly but it was New Year's Eve, a holiday where the rate notoriously increased. Countering that was the training tomorrow however, whatever that may be. “I think a few impulsive hangovers and...” her fingers tapped the bench in thought. She couldn't say she knew River in her brief encounter. But if the gods elected him as leader and advertised training as rigorous. “Challenges I'm sure I can't even comprehend. But I'm sure they'll see to it we're all sore and sorry for our time off and vacations.” And that included Elysium and the other new attendees, daring not to have encountered camp earlier, though they mightn't have even heard of it until late. She walked back around and sat on a stool getting comfortable at the bar for now. She dipped a straw in her drink and took a sip. Her topic and predictions for training inadvertently brought up the question of whether River was crafting and dictating the training or simply enforcing it.
