[table][row][cell]Werewolves: [table][row][cell]Therianthropes are members of the Pack, a ruling body in Ünterland that precedes over all Therianthrope families. The Pack is ruled by an oligarchy, with the Alpha of each family representing their territory. Alphas are generally considered to be the strongest of their clan, but in some cases are simply either the member who is most respected in their community, or the most feared. The pups of Alphas are generally considered to be heirs to the title, and grow up being groomed and often outright pressured to inherit the role from their parent.[/cell][/row][/table][/cell][/row][row][cell][table][row][cell]The most common type of Therianthrope is the Lycanthrope, giving way to the misnomer of 'werewolf'. While this misnomer describes the vast majority of Therianthropes, other types exist, though some are more geo-locked than others. While wolves are on nearly every continent, both in Ünterland as in Midyeden, there also exist common variations such as the Urcanthropes who possess the form of a bear, Felcanthropes who turn into cats and even Repcanthropes who take on various reptilian forms. While often seen as separate from Therianthropes and certainly from Lycans; Harpies, Sirens and other merfolk are in fact Therianthropes who exist primarily in their true face form. A Therianthrope possesses three forms: the human guise, the true face and the dire beast. While Therianthropes can shift to their true face at any time, the summoning of their dire beast form can only happen under the glow of a full moon. Therianthropes are intrinsically linked to the phases of the moon and due to being in tune with its cycle, they experience a psychological cycle of their own in accordance. In Ünterland, most Therianthropes opt to remain in their true face, but those who occupy Midyeden have learned to maintain a human guise out of self-preservation.[/cell][cell][img]https://i.imgur.com/ieAKT1L.png[/img] _________________________[/cell][/row][/table][/cell][/row][row][cell][table][row][cell][img]https://i.imgur.com/VgYKm2J.png[/img] _________________________[/cell][cell]Despite the common misconception, lycanthropy, nor by extension, therianthropy, is a disease. It cannot be passed onto Magni nor Mundane through scratches, bites or other methods. Therianthropes are typically born, but there exist rituals one can undertake to be imbued with the animal spirit. This transformation is harrowing and runs the risk of losing the participant to madness or death. Those who undergo this ritual are often much more feral and spend days, if not weeks or even months living off the land and the wilderness before their faculties start to return and their first shift is reversed. Therianthropes should not be mistaken with Skinwalkers or Nagual, both of which are forms of Magni with the ability to shift into animals rather than a true form of therianthropy.[/cell][/row][/table][/cell][/row][/table]
