Why couldn’t his sister just have stayed around? The map that their father gave them was literally telling him how hot (close) or cold (far) he was from the camp, but he still couldn’t read it very well. He couldn’t remember what his father’s directions were about it because he was ignoring the man — maybe he shouldn’t have done that. Huffing out, he stood there, and stared at the map before lifting his eyes and looking around. ‘Everything looks the same… how can one tell a fucking tree from another fucking tree. They all look the same, god, I hate the woods. Why couldn’t camp be in an apartment complex or like something? A resort? That would be great if it was in a resort,’ he continued to bitch to himself while looking around and then looking down. He was kind of following his footprints back in hopes that he would find his sisters in a way. The map didn’t make sense to him at all. No matter what he did, especially when he thought he was going the right way. It seemed like he was going farther and farther away from this supposed camp. Without looking much at the surrounding area and more on the map, his foot hooked something, and he tumbled down. It wasn’t gentle. It wasn’t a shallow experience. Morne rolled down a smaller hill before smacking into a tree while losing all of his breath from the impact before regaining his composure quickly. ‘I hate the woods,’ he wanted to scream it but he was able to hold in that energy. ‘The woods suck. Why would anyone want to be out in the woods?’ he then realized he lost the map. It wasn’t in either of his gloved hands as he looked around and tried scanning for it. Then he noticed it was up at the top of the small hill, so he started climbing the snowy slope — then slipped down. He gasped out in disappointment before trying again. And again. And once more. And finally! Morne grabbed a root and was able to pull himself up to the top of the hill and get back to his feet and grab the map. ‘Ha! NATURE! FUCK YOU, YOU BITCH!’ he yelled out but nothing was called back. Maybe some rustling but he shrugged his shoulders, shook the map so it would be clean, and made sure he was away from the edge. ‘Oh, shit. I had the map upside down, this makes so much more sense,’ Morne laughed at himself as he began to follow the proper instructions that he didn’t understand when it was upside down.
