For years, she served as a beacon of Imperial justice, a living standard of virtue clad in steel. With the plague’s spread, she rode out alongside her mentor, a senior knight by the name of Aurelien to contain what they believed was an isolated outbreak. They came upon a village wracked with the plague’s corruption.. bodies twisted, minds slipping. When the villagers tried to breach quarantine, clawing at barricades in their panic, Yvonne made the decision that broke her. She ordered her men to cut down the infected before they could escape and spread. In the slaughter that followed, her oath to protect the innocent fractured under the weight of what she deemed “necessary sacrifice”. Sir Aurelien, torn between horror and understanding, abandoned the battlefield to bury himself in plague research, eventually disappearing. Since that day, Yvonne has refused to admit her oath was broken. She has clung to its words with iron discipline, doubling her devotion in every rite, each penance a desperate attempt to stitch her fractured vow back together. She wanders now, searching for her lost mentor, hoping that by finding him and the truth of the plague. She might find absolution. But cracks form in her certainty.
