Alright. So me and the CoGm spent a lot of time going back and forth for your character. Your character can be neutral for now and join the side of good later on. That's fine. 

What we found an issue with, is that your dad can't be a Grim. Grim have one goal in mind, spread the darkness and kill anything that gets in their way. They wouldn't partake in relationships. So here is a possible resolution to that. 

You're in the Mistmoor mountain range in Brule. She and her family can be recluses, that's fine. How about this, instead of a grim father. Your family's homestead is not far from the stronghold. So any darkness that would have pushed through the mountains and corrupted would be diminished or outright purged by the Mistmoor Stronghold. Since your family's home is close to it, the darkness didn't get full access to your character. You're far enough away from the sigil and it's protection diminished the darkness significantly but some continued to ink through, being the shadows and creatures your girl saw in the dark. That darkness slowly seeped into your soul, changing you to give you the powers but not turn you into a Grim completely. That does mean, though, that you can't be a light bearer. Doesn't keep you from going into the strongholds and whatnot, but you wouldn't ever be blessed by the goddess since your soul is technically tainted. 

What do you think? You don't have to take this route of course. You are welcome to come up with something else but I'm afraid the Grim father aspect isn't possible.
