Roland
Level 7 Roland (59/70) Location: Eseka Word Count: 1112 An Organization member just... dropping in to get a bite? And just clarifying things in one fell swoop? And with everyone around not seemingly as on edge as they would be for a Consul or someone else. What was actually going on here? Roland could tell from looking at them, they had some goal that was different from the seekers, but it in a way relied on the seekers to accomplish theirs. A backstab waiting to happen perhaps, but while they were in a helpful mood Roland would chat them up to get a few questions answered. He did try to scope out what was assumed to be their main headquarters with no luck and only got a vague mention of the area, but with one in front of him perhaps he could get information about themselves specifically. "This is my first time meeting one of you. I've heard about you organization 13 members though. I've got a question, how are you different from the Consuls? The way you talk, you seem to have some sort of existence much like them but far different goals and allegiances." Though his face remained hidden, the stranger's incredulous look can be felt. "I struggle to imagine how you came to that conclusion. We have no affiliation with Galeem whatsoever; we are not bound in thrall to it or its system, and we do not require lifelight to live." His tone turned particularly flat and curt, as if to indicate something that ought to be obvious. "I'd think that disparate goals and allegiance make a world of difference." "An enigmatic group that has been around for awhile knowing things about the world no one else knows. You can't help a guy being suspicious." Roland said, putting on a friendly but 'can you blame me?' sorta tone. While his job wasn't 'detective' like Band, intelligence gathering and processing was more or less the same sort of job. "So, how'd you manage that? Being free from the whole lifelight." Roland said, asking the obvious followup question with genuine curiosity. The Organization member shook his head with an irate click of his tongue. "Use your imagination." "Can't say that I know. Unless you use flame clocks too." Roland said. He did know a bit about what Roxas said, with him calling them 'nobodies', but he'd like to get his information from multiple sources or at the very least see how they'd spin things. "All I know is that its something called a 'nobody', but outside of the name I don't really know what it means. Seems like an offensive name to give someone. Like, everyone is a nobody to everyone before they meet others, why would you just say a group of people are 'nobodies'?" "My sympathies," the stranger told him before taking a sip of water, clearly not interested in elucidating the term's definition for Roland. Clearly not the talking type. Or the clarifying type. Well, it was time to change tact then, but that'll be much more varied and random on what info he'd get. With a shrug, Roland dropped the topic. "So. If your going to enjoy a meal with us, got any interesting stories to tell? It'll be a bit before our food is here." The man stared down at the pizza slice he'd been slowly and delicately carving into bite-sized pieces. "I don't recall enjoying the meal," he snarked. He then looked at Roland. "Since you're so eager to chat, why don't you share an anecdote or two?" Roland thought about that, and maybe he had something that'd strike a chord. Having dealt with this member for such a short amount of time, something was very familiar with them that the other seekers didn't have. Well, maybe that'd be revealed in time by them, what did Angela call it, the "disease of the soul" or something. Roland had very little knowledge on the matter, only that it was what afflicted the people of the City. "So, are you from my world, from The City? You act just as impassioned as anyone in the city." Roland said, noting his thought process. "If you are, I get it man." After a moment, the Organization member replied simply, "No." "Hm... Well, I guess the City exists in other worlds as well." Wait... Could parts of the City be in their home base? If so... That'd be... Well, Roland wouldn't know if that would be bad or good to be honest. "If that is the case, its pretty sickening to think about. Especially with what is apparently needed to 'fix' places like that." Waiting for a bit, with no replies, Roland knew what or who he was dealing with at the very least. A middle of the ladder member of this organization with no pride or arrogance in anything but perhaps their own silence. A professional with no emotions... Essentially a calculator. Not a machine, something less than that, and well, there wouldn't be much he'd get from him. Maybe the others could get something, but Roland wasn't sure of how much substance they'd get. "I've got another story for everyone while we wait, the story of the Demi-Glazed sauce. It was an Urban Nightmare level case. Apparently these cooks had managed to make this sauce that tasted so good it gave people almost religious like clarity and epiphanies. Granted they all didn't turn out super well, but it gained a notorious reputation. So I took the job with a partner and well... I guess we never learned what made it taste so good. You would think it was drugs or something, but no, it wasn't. We'd have figured those out right away if they were. If I had to guess it was probably angel wings or something by the name which is pretty illegal on its own. I tried to get a taste to see, but well, I never got the chance." Roland then continued the story, giving a few details here and there to make things entertaining, but also trying to keep it lighthearted. Granted when he mentioned his theory, he wondered what Pit thought, being an actual angel and everything. After some time, Roland's food arrived. He had ordered the chef special, Lomo Saltado - diced filet mignon, smoked cherry tomatoes, onions, red wine vinegar, ajiamarilllo peppers, au jus, roasted garlic, Maggi, potato medley, topped withcrispy potato strings served with jasmine rice + aji verde on side. Roland was a foodie, and he liked when he got access to food made with passion. Well, as long it was food and not... district 23's version of food.
