While actually fighting one another would have been frowned upon in the middle of the street, having a Pokémon battle everyone was fine with! Recognizing what was going on, the public made room for the two of them, walking around where they could and some stopping to watch, not recognizing the tension in the air between the two trainers.

The intention here was that both trainers would send out their Pokémon at the same time.

The opponent threw down his Pokéball, and it cracked open, and with a red light showed up… a small grey cat, standing on two legs, staring forward at Basil as blankly as its trainer.
