Kaelen “Kai” Redfeather’s life began in the wind-scoured pines of White Pine Ridge. From an early age, his aunt Miska recognized in him the spiritual awareness of a Twin Soul — one who walks in two worlds. Kai dismissed the old stories as just that: stories. Instead, he pursued a path in the U.S. Special Forces, excelling in reconnaissance and survival.  

On a mission deep in hostile territory, an ambush left his team decimated. Bleeding out in the snow, Kai felt the world slipping away. That’s when the ancient presence found him: Mahkèsiw, a Wendigo spirit older than the pine forests themselves. Unlike the tales of mindless hunger, this spirit was calculating, patient — and offering a bargain.  

Mahkèsiw promised survival, strength beyond human limits, and senses to hunt any prey. The price? To share a body… and to feed. Kai agreed, awakening days later with wounds healed and power coursing through him.  

But the hunger was real. The first time he lost control, he found himself over the corpse of a supernatural predator. Sickened, he confronted Mahkèsiw — and the spirit offered a pact: they would hunt only the wicked, the unnatural, the predators of the innocent.  

Since then, Kai has become a nomadic guardian, wandering from state to state. By day, he meditates to keep Mahkèsiw’s hunger contained. By night, the spirit prowls through him, using fang and claw to mete out cold justice.
