Julia didn't look back as Kenzo faced down the monster. All she wanted was to get Madelyn to safety. Then they could talk. Then Julia could begin to make sense of why such people would be after a kid. Julia had barely made it ten paces out of the doorway when Madelyn managed to wriggle her hand free of Julia's grasp, and used some kind of power to attempt to contain the monster.

Julia could sense the disaster this move brought even before anything happened. Julia couldn't sense spirits directly, but her senses and instincts were screaming at her. Before Julia could answer Sarah, or confirm Shizamu's suspicions, the monster shattered the barrier. Everything seemed tomove in slow motion but even so, Julia was not fast enough to stop the Weeping from taking Madelyn. Nor, thanks to Madelyn's attempt at heroics, was Julia close enough. Her hand reached out to grab at empty air as they fell into her shadow together.She stared at the shadow for a second or two before her shocked face twisted into a snarl.

[color=tan]"That stupid girl! Why did she do that? I don't....I can't understand!"[/color] she spluttered in panicked incredulity before turning her attention to Sarah, Shizamu and Kenzo.
