[hr][hr][/center]	For a brief second, April's chest had swelled up with hope - hope that they were actually turning things around, that they could do this, that it didn't matter that they were a ragtag group that had never properly trained together, it didn't matter that their coach was possibly dead, it didn't matter that she'd spent days in an asylum and wasn't on speaking terms with her own family, it didn't matter that her life was chaos and there were feelings inside of her that she couldn't understand. Today, everything was going right. Today, they were going to win, they were going to have a chance to take a shot at the crown, and they were going to [i]fucking win[/i]. She smiled brightly. The ball was finally rolling uphill. 

	And as abruptly as her fortune had changed, it all came crashing apart. The first attack looked like mystical spider webs. April was [i]terrified[/i] of spiders. With a bit of a yelp, she pulled water around her, the waves breaking against the creepy mess. She let out a sigh of relief. She [i]never[/i] wanted to fight a spider person. Especially not a magical one. Talking about spider people during a game of FMK was one thing - but actually facing them? [i]No way.[/i]

	Before she could catch her breath, before she could react, the next attack came - scorching chains rushing after her. She instinctively threw her hands up in front of her face, looking to the side only to feel herself suddenly leave the ground for a moment, as Percy grabbed onto her and teleported them both away - just a brief blip, but it was enough. A speedster had been coming for her back, and if Percy hadn't acted, she would have taken the attack. But it wasn't enough for everything. The chains like heat seeking missiles found her, ensnaring her, burning their impressions into her skin. She couldn't move, she was paralyzed, only able to scream from the pain - from the flames engulfing her. At the same time, a shield crashed into her, the deep bruising from its impact only adding to the pain. 

	But her torment wasn't over yet. Thuy wasn't finished with her. As she was powerless to act, the injuries multiplied - sapping not her physical strength, but her focus, her willpower. It was like the world went dark in that moment, as her spirit was crushed, stolen by some parasitic force. Any fight she had remaining to her left her body, as the crushing weight of her sorrow returned. She'd failed. She'd let them all down. It was no wonder that Sabine hated her - when they lost this match, there would be no one else to blame. How could she even show her face at school again after this? Everyone would despise her. It was better off if she didn't come back. If she didn't fight this. If she just... stopped. 

	She was numb to the world as she distantly felt a hand grab her, as her environment shifted once again, freed from the chains by Percy's teleport. She stared at the ground, lost. 

	Percy stared for a moment, studying her. She seemed to be alright, for the most part. The burns would heal. And as for her mental state... He didn't see any signs of an issue. She was just catching her breath. There was nothing to be concerned about here. So he shifted his attention back to the rest of the field. Leah was attempting to pull aggression towards herself - he'd heard Dorian's tactics lectures enough to recognize the strategy. And Sabine had dealt with the defenses. Good. Everything was under control.

[*]Notes - [list][*]As a reaction, April uses Elemental Sphere (Water) centered on herself. This costs 5 focus, bringing her focus down from 20 to 15. Additionally, the sphere takes all the incoming damage from the first attack against April from Thelma, and as the damage exceeded 10, the sphere bursts and leaves April unharmed. 
[*]As Percy used his reaction on Blink Together, the next two attacks against April have Trouble, as they are ranged attacks rather than melee. The fourth attack from Tatiana misses, as it is a melee attack. 
[*]Thuy's ranged attack with trouble becomes 2 + 4 + 3 + 5 (Ego) = 14. April's defense is a 14, so it still hits. It paralyzes April and deals 17 damage.
[*]Wil's ranged attack with trouble becomes 6 + 5 + 4 + 0 (Agi) = 15. April's defense here is a 13, so it still hits. However, the damage reduces to 10 points. 
[*]April in total loses 27 points of health, bringing her to 33. 
[*]Since April took the damage, Thuy's reaction then applies. Thuy uses Brain drain: 5 + 4 + 3 + 5(Ego) vs 11 (April Vig). Deals 17 Focus damage and Thuy Regains 8 Focus.
[*]I then was silly and didn't think through math, and used April's action to spend a point of Karma to give Thuy trouble. This then became 1 + 4 + 3 + 5 (Ego) vs 11 (April vig) which is still a hit. 
[*]April is then down to 1 point of karma and -2 focus, meaning she is now demoralized. Demoralized condition: Concentration powers end, trouble on all action checks.
[*]But as Percy uses his movement to teleport her out of the chains, she is no longer paralyzed.
