She had not stopped moving, stopped thinking, stopped worrying since she left that park bench. She almost had the thought that she wished she was back in prison. He was right. She needed to calm down and think. She watched the rest of this group on strangers. One of them pointed out that the amulet was still here. That's how the monster had been tracking her, but it probably couldn't help find her by itself, could it? Julia stayed silent and listened. Now was a time to absorb as much information as possible. There was magic in the amulet, and the other girl had the ability to sense it. The monster had several other souls gravitating around it. That may explain why Julia's instincts felt something akin to cold air around him. This group knew Madelyn. The old man also knew other people who may be able to shed some light on what exactly that monster was. Julia wanted to share everything she knew, to contribute to the communal pool of knowledge by telling everybody about the meeting between the monster and that woman who'd given him the order. It was becoming increasingly apparent that Madelyn had already been somewhat involved with this side of the world, but to Julia, that just made it worse. The seedy underbelly of the City, the breeding ground of criminals and villains. It's not one that a teenager can hop in and out of at their leisure. And commiting to it was a nonsensical choice when the alternative was having a normal, happy childhood that allows you an education and an honest future. Maybe this was just hindsight. Maybe this was the biased worldview of a bitter ex-convict who wishes that she had been given the choice of a normal childhood herself. But the police soon arrived, and Julia looked down at her feet. They still made her nervous. It still hadn't sunk in yet that she was truly free and no longer guilty of anyoutstanding crime she had not served her full sentence for. That she didn't need to be careful around cops. She still didn't want them any more involved than they needed to be, but she still wanted to help, and she still wanted them to help. "She was abducted by a monster," Julia added. "I'm still not sure whoor what it actually is but it came from the abandoned warehouse in the Melting Pot that used to be Fat Tony's hideout. There were probably eyewitnesses around there who got a better look at it than I did."
