Johnathon "Johnny" Blaze Bounty Hunter Of Satan Earth / Hell
C H A R A C T E R C O N C E P T:

"Go to Hell."

Johnny was the Ghost Rider for a decade, back in the start of the century. He was left for dead after a gang attack, his girlfriend at the time and his adoptive father were both with him and in the same situation. On his deathbed, Johnny asked whatever power there was in the world to do a sinner like him one favor. Take his soul, but save his family's life. Heaven didn't take the deal. He became bonded to the ArchDemon Zarathos, and became the spirit of vengeance. For ten years he rode. Fighting anything from no-good drug dealers to rogue angels from the Black Host. While Ghost Rider was putting the hurt on the Knight Of Hell Abaddon, Zarathos betrayed Johnny and broke their pact. Leaving Johnny dying on the ground, and when his heart stopped beating, his soul was sent to hell for all eternity.

Johnny's been dead for four years. Which in hell was the equivalent of 400 years. During this time, Johnny's been fighting demons every second to avoid endless torture. But with Zarathos and Abaddon's coup on Hell, they released Mephisto's most valued inmates. And the Lord Of Hell needs them back. He resurrected Johnny as a man, to hunt the demons down and maybe, he'd get a chance at redemption for his soul. And more importantly, revenge on Zarathos.

He's back from the grave again. No longer a host split between the man and the demon. He's just a rider. A Rider who dreads he's more ghost than man.

C H A R A C T E R M O T I V A T I O N S & G O A L S:

Johnny's prime desire is to kill Zarathos. But in doing so, he'll hunt down every evil son of a bitch he can get. Using the centuries of combat skills he's amassed, he's the most qualified human to fight demons there ever was. Using weaponry enhanced with demonic magic, hellfire loaded buckshot and the occasional shot of demon blood. He's determined to get his soul back from the clutches of hell. For now, his goal is to hunt down the seven sins before they bring ruin to the world.

He's the protector of the innocent and the tormentor of the wicked.

A gifted child, the joy of his father, Andrew Rayner. Decent enough at sports, smart enough to know he never had to try that hard because his brain would carry him to the upper echelons of the world. That's what his mother always said, at least. Maria Rayner was a wonderful mother while Kyle was growing up, from a Mexican background, Maria became a single mother after Kyle's father died in military service, when Kyle was 11. Losing his father was hard, and it made him no longer take his life for granted. Starting to apply himself, Kyle was soon looking at more opportunities than he could have ever envisioned for himself.

That is, till a meteor shower hit Coast City, and Kyle, a brazen 16 year old, celebrating getting his drivers license wound up in the middle of it. A green, flaming orb collided with his car, and during the crash he came face to face, not with a man... But a glowing, flaming, green... Whale? The Whale spoke, prophecy, chosen one , destiny, blah blah. The ringing in Kyle's ears, and the smoke from his burning car was too much.

The being knew it's time was fading, but it needed a host. As a result, it found it's way into the wounded Kyle, reinvigorating his body, healing the shrapnel that had cut it's way through his heart, filling him with that same kind of flame that had fallen from the sky.

Since that day, Kyle's life would never be the same, for he is a man who is able to make dreams reality. Imagination given form, abstracts into shape. Shining across the world, or social media at least, is a force bright enough to vanquish evil's might, the awesome power of Green Lantern's Light.

In Brightest Day
Hubris is the greatest companion of a successful Green Lantern. They are powered by their own self-belief. Their lack of fear and doubt. Kyle embodies this better than most, yet his hubris is also used to cover his fear and uncertainty. Kyle is a teenager like everyone else, but he has no clue how to behave around others of his ilk. For the last few years, he's been treated like a god by the suits who started to pay attention to him. His powers are awe inspiring, they're flashy and incredible. What all of the theatrics do not convey is the fact that Kyle has never been in a real fight.

Testing Mettle, Green Lantern's Might
The appearance of another Prism-bearing Knight would stir up Kyle's entire understanding of the universe. I envision Kyle's powers to operate like a mix between Earth-2 Alan Scott and Kyle's own stint as Ion. He's not part of the GL Corp, and he's not bound to be a space cop. Yet he's wielding one of the fundamental forces of the source, which he certainly cannot be alone in. Perhaps a mentor, adversary or instructor would provide both clarity and greater confusion.

Darkness fell over the desert, the four men had made camp deep between enemy lines. This whole operation had gone to shit - it was off the books, running ops for the snake Waller truly was a suicide mission. They were out of supplies, and they knew no backup would find them. Each had little more than what little rations remained in their packs, two armor plates each and six reserve mags worth of handgun ammunition. It would truly require a miracle for any of them to make it back home - not to mention how they still had a mission to complete. Major Stewart had gone through inventory, what little they had. Lieutenant Gardner had produced his empty shotgun and half a sniper rifle, missing the barrel. Captain Jordan had emergency flares, a parachute, some medical supplies and a flashlight. And Sergeant Rayner had a multitool, a Byalian dictionary and a empty and mangled hand-held lantern.

Stewart wasn't gonna lie to them. The situation was fucked. They all knew it. Fear was seeping in, they weren't gonna succeed in their mission. Thousasnds of Allied troops were going to die to the Byalian superweapon. And then all out war would start. Not to mention how the death toll would start with these four men. They dug into their rations, Stewart grabbed a crumbling map from his back pocket and laid it out, marking where they were and where the objective was. 14 clicks. Not impossible on foot. If it was a hike. This was deep into one of the most surveillance areas in the world.
Hal, Guy and John were all in unison, eyebows furled. Deep in thought. Guy was picking at his food, barely eating. The guy always ate. Rayner, their engineer who had the least combat experience. They had known Rayner since they were kids. He was grinning... No, he was smiling. Holding something in his hand.

"The hell is so funny, Rayner?" Captain Jordan snapped

"Heh. Just that I can't wait to see my wife and kid".

There it was, in his smile.

Hope.

Guy had heard the plan. He didn't like it. He barely believed it. But after this shitfest? He just wanted to fight. Perhaps it was a defense mechanism. If he wasn't angry, he'd be scared. Fear was the enemy. They all knew it.

"If we pull this off, we better get medals." He jeered.

"We better get fuckin' Knighted if we pull this off buddy." Hal filled in, John shook his head.

"You guys both know that if we pull this off, nobody is ever gonna know. Our only thanks is that tomorrow's correspondence from our war-reporter, Perry White will be about Great Ceasar's Ghost, and not about World War Three."

They all chuckled.
"Well, you know what guys? Nobody else will thank us. So I guess we better thank ourselves." Rayner commanded, the others, sitting in their makeshift camp perked up. Rayner ripped open the last pencil he had and started drawing something - he didn't have a great hand, but it was good enough. He made an insignia, a crest. Like two T's, connected by a ring on each end, a small circle in the middle. They had all seen this before. A really long time ago. Before they all drifted apart, and then suddenly were reunited in the military.

"I used to draw this when we were kids, remember?" Rayner asked rhetorically.

"What is it?" Guy questioned, Hal chuckled in disbelief.

"It's our crest, for our knightly order." Rayner answered. John laughed. "Order of what?"

Taking one of the waning emergency flares they had used to make a campfire with a tong, he placed it in the broken down lantern he had just taped back together.

"Knights of The Lantern" Rayner grinned. They all laughed. John had been their quarterback in highschool football, and he always held speeches before the big games. Rayner handed him the lantern.
"You wanna do the honors, Sir Captain?" Bowing and kneeling in jest. John took the lantern and smirked.

"Remember how the old saying went?" John asked, reffering to the mantra their football Coach, Mister Scott had taught them so long ago. They all nodded in agreement.
For a brief moment, these four soldiers, certain of their death, barely clining onto hope were once again the football team The Coastal City Lightkeepers.
All four of them kneeled cerimonously in a football huddle. The burning lantern in the middle of them.
They all spoke in unison.

"In brightest day.
In Blackest night
..."

For Eons, since the piercing of the Source Wall, New Genesis and Apokolips have been at war. It's a war that's shaped the universe, this and those beyond. Highfather through many tribulations and challenges has assured that his people have a safe haven, he made New Genesis. On Apokolips, Darkseid is. Some time into their stalemate a new actor emerged. Emblazoned by the power of the old Eternals, from a world ravaged by the crossfire of the New Gods stood Thanos, the Warden of Titan. The last of his kind, and his might would serve as a way to swing the balance in the eternal war between New Gods.

Orion is the second son of Darkseid. He was born meak, malformed, blind and worthless, not even fit for the pits. However, his father found a use for him anyway. After a long grueling battle against Thanos's forces of the Black Quadrant, Desaad made a plan for a truce, one that allow Apokolips to return their focus towards their true enemy, New Genesis.

And so it was, the baby Orion was propped up as Darkseid's greatest weapon, the child that would inherit all of the lord's power. The one born of the wrath of the old gods, power incarnate. And Darkseid would hand this weapon, and a alliance of peace to the fading empire of the now mad Titan. All it would cost Thanos would be his most beloved. One of his twin daughters. Nebula was the only thing Thanos had ever felt love for, the only thing that proved he had a heart. But he would give it away to ensure the future of his empire. In exchange for a sickly, meek boy he gave away his beloved daughter. Dooming her to a life of servitude to the most evil being in all of creation. Thanos could not even comprehend the kind of torture she would endure under the hand of Darkseid. But he had his weapon, and he had the future of his empire now.

Of course, Thanos would realize that Darkseid lied. Orion was a pathetic child, weak and worthless. Yet upon realizing this betrayal, the Mad Titan grinned. He knew there would be more to this child, and more importantly. He knew that Darkseid had handed him a weapon that the evil god would never see coming.

And so it went, for Eons Orion was turned into the son of Thanos. His warmaker and his tracker. His one man that would get things done entire armies could not. All while shielding the New God from the truth about the terrors of The Empire of Titan. While Orion was hunting down criminals and allies of Apokolips, those that would conspire against his master, he would be spared witnessing most of the cruelties of the empire. Ensuring that the sensitive boy would always side with the good of his master.

Now, he has been tasked with finding a weapon powerful enough to break the truce against Darkseid. To bring war to the world of Apokolips and to prove to the New Gods of New Genesis that the age of gods is over, it is the time of the Titans.

The Thanos & Darkseid conflict between DC and Marvel has always intrigued me - what would happen if these two would ever get to come to fight? This is my attempt of telling that story, by putting Orion smack in the middle of it. He's been raised to believe that Thanos is good yet violent. That anything cruel he would do in the name of Thanos is done in the interest of stopping Darkseid, the true enemy. He's been raised without the guidance of Highfather. Without the friendship of the New Gods and without the brotherly bond with Lightray. Orion is in some ways completely alone, yet in others he has new allies and awaits acquiring more of them.

A brief synopsis of your character's life, experiences and training before the RP begins. This is where you outline your vision for the character including any notable changes or differences from the regularly accepted canon. This should be a short summary that provides insight into where the character is in terms of their overall progress and development. You could also include any notable differences from the standard canon you've added to your character.

Why do you want to play this character, what is the driving motivation behind both this desire and the character themselves. What do you hope to accomplish and where do you want the character's story/stories to go? For a driving character, there should be enough of an outline present to interest other players along with specifications towards how many players you're looking to involve or available roles. For supporting characters, this should indicate either a plot you've arranged to be part of or the type of plot you're looking to be involved in. Roaming characters have the privilege of doing either or simply stating a roadmap for the character to exemplify how you'd ideally like them to move between plots.

Nick is the son of Nero Nyxius the third. Real estate mogul, explorer and truly one of the most eccentric men of the 20th century. Nero was a survivor of the first world war, one of the original victims of the Gray Death. A founding member of Vanguard, but whom left its ranks, and most of public life during the second world war. Instead, retiring to a rapidly growing city in the south. Everlight City, New Mexico - the most peculiar city in all of the world.

Everlight City is the only place on earth where the sun never sets. It never rains, and there is never night. The entire city is shrouded in a barrier of pure daylight, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It has been this way for centuries, and it is the reason for the city's founding back in 1814 when settlers discovered an area where the sun never set.

Everlight is free from modern technology and pleasures, for no form of wireless communication can pierce through the veil of light. Superhumans cannot dim the light for long, and not one soul is aware of the cause of the light. Everlight has become a hip vacation retreat for the wealthy who want a 'social media detox' and an improved tan, the city being gentrified at an ever alarming rate.

However, that isn't what troubled Nero, or his ancestors of the past two centuries. No, what troubled them were the causes, and effects of the never setting sun. Effects were small, but over the years they have become increasingly more potent, a panic has been spreading through the city while the Nyxius family have been trying to keep the city from falling apart.

See, in the city where the sun never sets, a great darkness live within people. It drives people mad, turns them into something... Less than human. It doesn't happen to everyone, but it does happen.

Last year Nick's father and mother Lissandra, both died under mysterious circumstances. And it fell upon Nick, a surfer who had spent most of his life at boarding schools and dodging his enigmatic fathers gaze to inherit the Nyxius estate. One of the U.S's most eligible bachelors had to return home and there he discovered the truth about his legacy. His father, his grandfather and most of the members of the Nyxius family have all been working to protect the city of Everlight. The blessing was a curse, and they had to find a way to stop it, for fear it might spread to other places in the world. Their order of protectors had been called the Daybreakers, mixing modern technology with century old mystic arts to try and fend off the altered victims of the light.

Nick is the last man to don the mantle, to utilize his superhuman abilities to try and save his city, and in order to do so he needs to find out what is happening. His family never told him the truth, and he's been forced to pick up the pieces over the past year, retracing the steps of a century old mystery where the only clues he has been able to piece together points him to one place. Calder City.

Gray Death Enhancements:
Hereditary powers inherited from his father. His father's abilities kept him aging at a slower rate, and Nick is expected to age even slower. Furthermore, it would seem Nick has the ability to alter light and heat in some limited capacity, though currently it goes no further than making a light bulb burn in his hand.

Power of the Daybreaker:
The Order Of Daybreak is a secret society, a cult of the mystic arts. They firmly believe that the Everlight is caused by the supernatural and have been delving into the paranormal to find the cause, the motive and how to stop it. This has lead to them finding a treasure trove of false leads over the years, and combining their occult and arcane knowledge with their mundane physical wealth has lead to a long list of tools and abilities at the Daybreaker's disposal. Most notably an armored suit with a series of magical abilities powered by a highly secret, deeply unstable magi-tech that is far beyond Nick's understanding.

The Everlight's Night:
To discover what happens to his home, how to stop it and save people. It's the carrying on of his family's legacy - his deepest desire is to uncover the truth. How his superhuman abilities correlate, and why his father kept him in the dark for his entire life. He has to gather allies, find a solution and return to a home that has gone mad.

A New Dawn:
Nick does not simply wish to be the silent protector of a city going mad. Nick is argent for glory as a hero, beyond Everlight City. He wishes to use his powers, his wealth and his mantle for good in ways that his family had never truly dared to.

Zenith:
In order to save his home, fulfill his father's legacy, and make a name for himself as a modern day superhero, Nick needs to learn more about his suit, his abilities and what the trove of knowledge he has been held responsible for truly means.
