Might not be very useful in the face of the apocalypse, though... [Quick Thinker] ⫻ Moses is adept at thinking on his feet. Being an investment banker back in Shadow, planning and conceiving back-up routes on the fly are essential skills when it comes to securing deals. [Excel Whiz] ⫻ Brother can cook up a mean spreadsheet![/sub]
[/cell][cell][sub] Appearance[/sub] [sub][sup]▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔[/sup][/sub] "Look at me, man. Six foot, mocha chocolate complexion, crispy hairline, who can compete? ...What do you mean 'look in a mirror'?"
Whoever the specimen that owns the body Moses woke up in does not take care of himself. They both stand at six feet tall with dark skin the color of smoky quartz. But that's where the similarities end. The man who stares back at him in the mirror doesn't look like he's ever stepped foot into a spa in his life. Or had his eyebrows plucked. Or has gotten a manicure. Signs of wear and tear adorn his body, issues a product off the shelf or an appointment would have easily taken care of. Dark bags line the area beneath his eyes, his skin is rough instead of being smooth to the touch. His fingers are calloused and a razor hasn't touched his head or face in many moons. What should be a well-managed goatee is instead a bushy beard and the waves with ripples like the surface of a pond are absent from his now unruly hair. Moving around in the new body feels slightly heavier as well, a sign that the thirty minutes of daily cardio recommended by his doctor isn't on the menu. Wardrobe choices are a whole other beast. Alternate Moses doesn't dress up like the early thirties investment banker that he's supposed to be. His counterpart dresses casually, with perhaps one or two dress shirts for formal occasions. Besides that, he loves his Hawaiian shirts, graphic t-shirts and vibrant colors. A stark contrast from Moses' professional wardrobe, which consists of suits, khakis, polo shirts and muted colors.
[/cell][/row]
[sub] Psychology[/sub] [sub][sup]▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔[/sup][/sub] "Smoother than baby hair, that's me."
MAIN GOAL ⫻ To Moses, there is no higher calling in life than the pursuit of wealth. He seeks it in any and all forms, from the money in his bank account, to social status, to the expensive trinkets that fill his studio apartment with exposed brick walls. Moses obsesses over wealth, as if trying to fill a void in his life. Forced to endure lean times while growing up, he wishes to never go hungry or want for anything ever again. To that end, he strives towards becoming rich, with enough 'screw you' money from working and wise investments to live comfortably. It's why he chose finance as a career and endures unrealistic demands and sleepless nights as an analyst. PHILOSOPHY ⫻ Moses has seen one too many times in life what looking out for others gets you. It's what led his adopted parents to fill their house with rugrats and let altruism drag them down. It's been the downfall of co-workers who assisted colleagues in need, only to get stabbed in the back and abandoned. Unless Moses is referring to himself and what he's sacrificed, sacrifice isn't a commonly used word in his vocabulary. You need to focus on taking care yourself, because who else will? SECRETS ⫻ Moses suffers from epilepsy, a fact that he keeps hidden. In Shadow, he manages his condition with medication. Kindle Moses uses a pair of polarized sunglasses to guard his eyes from stimuli harsh enough to trigger a seizure. SEXUALITY ⫻ Moses is heterosexual. FEARS ⫻ Moses is afraid of losing the material wealth he's built up so far in his life. He's afraid of being seen as weak and vulnerable by those around him. He loathes being sick and only tolerates hospitals for check-ups. Moses is also afraid of intimacy. He fears growing attached to anyone and forming emotional bonds. In his opinion, strong feelings like that for someone else can make you impulsive and a danger to yourself. And Moses' primary concern is himself. REPUTATION IN SHADOW ⫻ Shadow Moses can be best described as a campfire. Someone who serves their purpose, but not one you would want to get too close to. He does good work as an investment banker, always ready to chime in with an unused angle to get results or go above and beyond to push the envelope. He's even capable of boosting morale with a well-timed quip to ease tensions. But fire is only so useful until it overstays its welcome. One runs the risk of getting nauseous from the smoke of his shallow views or burned by his insensitive and self-centered personality. FLAWS ⫻ Moses is prideful and dislikes relying on others. When working on an objective, his priorities start with accomplishing the goal, followed by himself at a close second. Others are barely third place. He is also a chatterbox.
[sub] Backstory[/sub] [sub][sup]▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔[/sup][/sub] "I'm just protecting the King. And we know who the king is, right?"
"There is nothing more important in this life than family. Never turn your back on it, no matter what." Those were the words Issac and Sarah Ibrahima lived by and tried their best to instill upon the many children in their care. But Moses failed to see the value in the motto. He found it ironic that they would teach that lesson to a bunch of orphans and unwanted children. Born in the city of Providence, Rhode Island, Moses never knew his family, a pair of deadbeats the farthest thing from ready to have a child. They were still children themselves, with families who highly disapproved of Moses' birth. It explained why he went from living in a spacious house with a proper crib to a crowded housing unit that always smelled of smoke. His parents gave childrearing a try, but it took two years of long shifts and backbreaking labor just to scrape by to break their spirits. So it was because of family that Moses was abandoned and given up for adoption, which was how the Ibrahimas entered his life. Suddenly, Moses had a new home, one that he soon found himself sharing with a steadily growing number of siblings. His new parents were always picking up strays, despite their modest lifestyle. The Ibrahima household was always alive with activity, something he had mixed feelings about growing up. He was never lonely and always had someone to play with, but he also got less personal time with his parents. By the time he was thirteen, he had seven younger siblings to compete with for attention and the value had worn off. It was then that Moses vowed to never find himself relying on another human being again. All family was good for in his eyes was slowing you down and saddling you with burden. He was going to look out for the only person that mattered, himself. And that meant being self-sufficient with a well-paying job. Moses dedicated himself to his schoolwork, latching onto his studies in Statistics and Personal Finance. He learned about the flow of money, and which career would best let it flow into his own pockets. Additionally, he found himself looked up to by his siblings, as his adopted parents made him tutor them in Mathematics. By the time he completed high school, his strong test scores gave him his choice of colleges. However, he decided to attend a smaller state school for his Associate' degree in Finance. All the while, tensions rose at home, the Ibrahimas disappointed at Moses' callous nature and disdain for his siblings. Tutoring his brothers and sisters was time-consuming and detracted from his goals, and he didn't hide his frustration from the others. Moses' selfishness went against everything Issac and Sarah had tried to teach him. Eventually, Moses landed a scholarship to Colombia University in New York to receive his Bachelor's degree. The young man packed his things and never looked back at his adopted parents or siblings. Eventually, he earned his degree and managed to get a foot in the door at a semi-famous bank. The twenty-three year old felt like his ascent was about to begin, which was when life decided to put a wrench in his plans. Back home in Rhode Island, a drunk driver struck Moses' adopted parents in a hit-and-run incident, killing Issac and putting Sarah in critical condition. The community back home was devastated by the loss of such prominent figures. But in particular, everyone's hearts went out to the children in their care they left behind. Without Issac and Sarah, the underaged foster children would be taken from their home and become lost in an overburdened system, which would inevitably split them up. The familial bonds they had created with each other would be lost forever. Moses was aware of that as he stepped into Sarah's room, the boisterous and bubbly older woman who was always filled with life now hooked up to a variety of machines with tubes sticking out every which place. Laboriously reaching a hand out to touch Moses, she asked him to return home and help keep their family together and watch over his siblings, giving the next generation a chance to blossom like he did. Kindle Moses, realizing in that moment the importance of family, honored his mother's wish and reluctantly but dutifully returned home. What began as frustration over delaying his dreams of fortune slowly melted into feelings of love for the family he left behind. The bond that he created was worth more than any cutthroat banking job could provide. Eventually, he gained a reason to stay home and found steady work teaching at a community college. Shadow Moses told Sarah he would sleep on it, then took the first flight back home to New York. It was a damn shame that Sarah had to go out like that, but that wasn't his problem. That bleeding heart junk was for the birds, and Moses had ambitions to attend to. His cell phone blew up with calls, of course, but without an address, he blocked each caller one by one until they stopped. It's been ten years and the thirty-three year old is still climbing the seemingly infinite corporate ladder, refusing to stop until he gets his fat cat managerial position. It's just his luck that after receiving some good news, he wakes up in a smelly hole in the ground filled with people he's never met before. King of New York, Goodfellas, stuff like that. His favorite film of all time is The Godfather Part III and he will argue with anyone who says that it's the weakest in the trilogy.
