During trials of the living, the warrior’s call ensnared Ru’s heart and coiled around his spirit, soul, and psyche. His tribe eked out a simple living hunting and gathering and enjoying the peace they were afforded before the time of the industrial man. Among them, Ru reigned as supreme hunter, loving husband, and caring father to a family extended by three children. Day in and day out, the hunt voiced its siren’s song and Ru answered with his own harmony gathering food and supplies as dictated by the season. It was the stanza of war that ultimately decided Ru’s fate. As he defended his tribe, his homeland, from encroaching threats of colonization and religious invasion, he was slain on the battlefield, outnumbered by the enemy and surrounded by the willows of death. His mortal body was slashed and gouged and injured beyond repair, his spirit choosing to leave physical form to ascend to the ethereal realm above. It was here Ru’s true life sprung to fruition. Thousands of years passed as he trained and lived amongst the angels eventually coming to claim his place among their ranks and imbue himself with their power. Rather than gathering food and supplies in simplicity, he defended the realm of the gods from a new threat, that of the demons. Countless wars fought and countless wins and losses piled up as Ru knew nothing more than battle, slowly forgetting the memory of his family and tribe wrapped within his previous mortality. The most painful loss slipped from the tongue of betrayal. Sharp words and ill intent did more damage than any demon offensive and through a blurred series of events Ru was cast out of heaven and back to the Earth as punishment for crimes he refused to relish upon himself. As he wandered both soulless and witless, he happened upon the singular thing that would drive him for the next thousand years. A name, supposedly of his betrayer and representative of all the pain he had endured both living and ascended—J’zir. With nothing more to lose and a single indulgence to gain, Ru fixed himself on a tunneled path that he hoped would lead to a vengeance he felt in his ethereal spirit. Even as the world of humanity ended and the demon threat broke through the barrier separating realities, Ru’s focus remained. J’zir would be found no matter the cost. And vengeance would be taken no matter the price.[/sup][/sup]
