On Battle Systems: Personally, if I'm GMimg, I prefer to just go freeform and moderate accordingly if it seems a player is taking too many liberties. I do, however, see where dice rolls can mitigate things like powerplaying and such. The pitfall is that dice tend to be very lacking in nuance outside of TTRPG settings with stats and mathematic functions to go along with such a system. I feel that having some RNG to resolve disputed combat scenarios could be helpful. But I also wouldn't want that to get in the way of storytelling.
