Are the numbers relevant to anything? Are the Miracles a scientific breakthrough, or something else that the Church was trying to research and identify?
The number is just an indicator of what order they were made. The second half of this is heavy spoiler territory, but a lot of these miracles do not abide the laws of science.
Part of me wants to make a more mage-y miracle work, but part of me had just thought of a simple super strength Handler with a cool oversized hammer that sippy sips the red paste of whoever sees the business end of it...
