A story that begins with Zordon of Eltar. The story of the Power Rangers. Granted powers from a separate dimension known as the Morphing Grid, Zordon sought to prevent the forces of the Xalantian Imperium from continuing their conquest of the galaxy. Fascinated by the power he wielded, the empress of evil, Xala, soon found her hunger for something more than material conquest. It would be this desire to access and acquire the grid that made her war against Zordon endless and ravenous in nature. Eventually, Zordon saw all of his friends fall before him and realized that the only way to save the grid was to sacrifice his world in the process. A bitter irony. He needed the grid to save his world, but to save the grid he had to allow his world to die. The Power Grid vanished and so too did the tools to access it. This created a ripple effect, as more factions who sought to dominate the universe came to power and the might of the Xalantian Imperium faded into obscurity. Xala’s fanatics, fervent and loyal, scoured galaxy-after-galaxy in search of what their empress once salivated over. What was once a megalomaniacal fantasy became a devotion, a framing that they could only gain power like they once held when they found and captured the energies of the grid. And for millions of years… the grid has remained quiet. Until today. Once a modest town during the Californian Gold Rush, Angel Grove has since transformed into a bustling metropolis due to the advent of several tech giants setting their eyes on the low taxes and ample opportunities for growth. A far cry from its days as a pitstop between Los Angeles and San Francisco, the city now sits itself as one of the most populous cities in the great Golden State. It is the only place the future Power Rangers have ever known. A few weeks ago, two tectonic plates shifted and caused an earthquake. This quake, otherwise slightly mundane for Californians, revealed something that has caught the eye of Professor James Takuya and Tech CEO Emilia Janda-Warnes. A discovery that will change everything.

Creating a Character

Zordon: Teleport to us five overbearing and over-emotional humans. Alpha 5: No! Not that! Not teenagers!
I am looking for five players to provide characters that fit the bill for a stylized reboot of Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers that blends the camp of the sentai it drew its content from, but also the grounded darkness of the second film adaption. Characters are 11th Grade students at a high school in the fictional city of Angel Grove, California, a tech-hub situated between Sacramento and Los Angeles. Each character should embody a different “vibe”, though some crossover is allowed. The Power Rangers were loosely based on the archetypes of the five-man-band (Leader, Lancer, Brains, Heart, and Brawn). The Red Ranger serves as the core leader and thus should have heroic inclinations and leadership abilities. The others go without saying: we need a foil to the leader, we need the heart that can mediate disputes, the brains who can study the grid, and the brawn who can come in clutch when a fight looks hopeless. I will be personally playing the Green Ranger, who will have a dynamic plot hook but will not really be part of the group in the early arcs. If you have questions please ask them and if you wonder how to make a sheet, I will point to my example in the characters tab. As always, post your applications behind a header in the OOC when finished.
