Harry was inside the locker room getting prepared for the first round of the Street Fighter tournament. During his time in the cafe, he was speaking with the other seekers. All while downing many espressos. His anxiety was relieved when he saw the other seekers who had been staying at Banishing Flats. The only person who wasn’t accountable was Nadia. But that was not surprising, given that she would likely be as far away as possible from Esaka. He would do the same to protect his life. But that was something he wouldn’t admit to the other seekers. He surmised that Nadia was perhaps long gone and unlikely to return. But really, he didn’t seem to care. He was more concerned about the tournament and his performance in the first round. Harry had changed into an appropriate outfit. Consisting of a pink karate outfit and a white belt, matching his sensei’s outfit somewhat. He had done some research on the participants of the Street Fighter tournament with Kim. His first opponent is a robot created by Violet Systems to be the perfect weapon. While he was worried he wouldn’t do much fighting a robot, he was sure he could overcome this obstacle. His train of thought was broken by a tournament official telling him to start heading to the area. As Harry was waiting for his match, he started jumping, trying to pump himself up for his match. As he walked towards the main stage, he noticed a robot approaching the stage as well. Harry surmised that this was his opponent. Harry carefully stepped onto the platform above a large pool. Both of them were now standing in the area, with Harry slowly getting into a fighting stance. The robot, introduced as Combat, adopted a somewhat similar style. Harry guessed Combot was going to use Jeet Kun Do this round. And the next round would be much different. Adrenaline was filling his body as the round started. Immediately, Combot moved close to Harry, trying to kick Harry’s torso. The kick connected to Harry’s stomach, making him writhing in pain. Combot followed up this kick with a punch to his jaw. The series of attacks caused Harry to fly backwards, landing on his side. But surprisingly, Harry slowly got back up and started rushing at Combot. He jumped as high as he could, performing a series of Dankukyaku on Combot’s torso. The attack connected, making the robot drop onto the ground. Harry wanted to continue his attack on Combot, wanting to make sure he didn’t get back up again. The out-of-shape detective started stomping on the robot’s head, trying to keep it down. But each time his foot made contact with that large metallica head, he could feel a sharp stinging pain run up his leg. This attack made him hold onto his feet while wailing in pain. But Harry’s attack didn’t seem to do much damage. The robot slowly got back up, countering by kicking Harry in the leg. It seemed to know that Harry’s leg was hurt, and was going to make sure Harry could use them to attack. The kick made Harry scream in pain, holding onto his leg. Combot followed up the attack with a hard punch to Harry’s chest. Harry could feel the wind leaving his lungs. A thought came to him that he was not going to get far in the tournament. It took Harry a few minutes to try to recover. Harry resumed his fighting stance as he started to get serious about fighting this thing. It didn’t take him long to realize a plan of action. He quickly closed the gap between himself and Combot. Slamming his fist into the robot’s chin, performing a Koryuken, albeit a very poor imitation of it. Harry was still getting used to performing these moves. This move was enough for Harry to win the first round. After the round, both of them went back to their starting position. As the second round started, Combot became quite aggressive. Powdering Harry with punches and kicks, making Harry’s struggle to block his attacks. Most of Combot’s attacks landed, hitting him in the face, neck, chest, and stomach. It looked like Combot was going to win the second round. Harry was kneeling on the ground, trying to catch his breath, looking completely gassed. For a moment, he had his eyes closed as his physical and motoric thoughts were chattering. Harry suddenly opened his eyes and stood up while starting to pump himself up. Starting to turn the tables on the robot. He pointed to Combot before giving him a big boot to the stomach. Following up the boot with a multitude of strikes. Finishing the strike with a thumbs up and an arrogant-looking grin. Combot flew into the pool of water below and was unlikely to get back up again. Harry noticed his hands were bloodied from slamming his fist into the metallic body of his opponent. Something he wanted right now was a strong drink. ===================================== Kim’s match was beginning with the detective waiting on the platform above a pool. Something that seemed quite inconvenienced for him. He got into a fighting stance, not, of course, before bowing to Leo, who returned the gesture with a similar motion. And as the announcer started the round, Kim slowly moved towards Leo. Wanting to test them and their resolve. As Kim’s foot stepped closer towards Leo, they responded by trying to punch Kim in the chest. Kim tried blocking the attack, but his efforts were rebuffed by Leo kicking him in the side. Kim staggered to the side, trying to keep his balance. Responding to the offence by letting out two or three punches towards their body. Some of his blows seemed to land, making Leo stagger. But some of his punches were blocked or countered by his opponent. The two of them were trading blows, with Leo having more leeway than Kim. They were more skilled in hand-to-hand combat than he was. Part of him begrudged the fact that he didn’t get any more training in any kind of martial arts. Kim could feel the pain of their punches and kicks running all over his body. Fortunately, his glasses were not affected by their attack. As Leo was coming in for a grapple behind him, he quickly countered with one of his own. Grabbing Leo by the arm before throwing them over his hip onto the ground. While briefly celebrating this move in his mind, he was caught off guard by her next attack. Leo quickly recovered by kicking Kim in the stomach while getting back onto their feet. The kick sends Kim onto his back with a hard thud. With this kick, Leo was able to win the first round. Kim was helped back onto his feet. And as the second round started, Kim thought of taking the fight more seriously. And instead would be more offensive than defensive. A few seconds into the second round, Kim started closing the distance between himself and Leo. Trying to bait them into attacking him so he could perform a devastating counterattack. Performing a strike to the side of their head. Leo took the bait, trying to block the attack, but he used this opportunity to fight back. He kneed Leo in the stomach, making them lurch forward. The detective seized this opportunity to deliver a devastating blow. Kim followed this up by trying to get them into a sleeper hold. Tightening his grip, trying to make sure she would be out for the count. But they were tougher than they looked. They held onto the arm that was wrapped around Leo’s neck. Leo did not want to lose, so he delivered a hard kick to his opponent's head. Staggering Kim and breaking his glasses in the process. And before he could recover, he was kicked once again in the head by Leo. This kick knocked Kim out and he was unable to continue fighting. Leo won the first match. A moment that would be pretty embarrassing for the detective. And it was something that Harry would tease Kim about.
