I just think it feels a bit choppy roleplaying wise to wait too long when someone's talking directly to your character and you're both waiting for the next major event in the sequence. But it's like post too quickly and no one else feels like they're getting a turn, post too slowly and you're suddenly having to account for every interaction your character should have reacted to at once and it paradoxically slows time down to a crawl.
