That she was safe now, away from the monsters that attacked Coach Everett and everyone else. Still, the retelling of past events would not be easy; the trauma still fresh in her mind. "We... the bus was stuck in traffic on our way to the game," AJ began, "when a car crashed into some other cars on the road. Coach Everett and the bus driver told us to stay put so they could go help them. Mr. Everett pulled someone from one of the cars, but then they..." AJ paused, clearly uncomfortable. She liked Mr. Everett as both a teacher and coach. Now he was gone, and only a mangled shell of a body remained, left behind to rot on the road. "They attacked him, dad. Everyone started to attack each other. They were biting and ripping each other apart." She raised the edge of her sleeve up to her cheek, and wiped away a tear that had begun to form. "We tried hiding on the bus from them, but they found us. They kept beating and banging on the door trying to get inside. We had to force the emergency exit open to get away from them." AJ glanced out the window, wondering if any of her friends were still alive out there. She could only hope, given the circumstances. "We ran as fast as we could, but we got separated from each other. Do you think they're okay, dad?" AJ asked. "Maybe... Maybe I could try calling them. Do you think it'd work?"
Alexis "Lex" Karczewski
Location: West Caldwell, Shell Gas Station Skills: N/A

The tension rose to a breaking point, and then snapped like a twig. June broke down, apologizing for her actions. Isaac held tight on the hunting rifle, while Gus, finally with some sense, made a positive suggestion for the group. "If it stops this from happening again." Lex began. "I just hope the commotion didn't draw any of them to us." Looking around the parking lot, Lex scanned the nearby streets for any sign of motion. A couple infected had wandered out into the open as far as she could see, which left Lex nervous. Though they didn't seem to have caught their attention yet, who knew how many more lurked out in the neighborhood. Ever since everyone had fled the gas station, it had been eerily quiet. No dogs barking. No cars driving down the street. It was as if West Caldwell had suddenly become a ghost town. "We've got some company." Lex explained, pointing out the nearby stragglers to the group. Hopefully they would be able to get back on the road before the infected even noticed they were there. "So, lets calm down and try to focus on the plan, okay?"
Kali Nordstrom
Location: West Caldwell, Shell Gas Station Skills: N/A

Hobbling to his feet, Isaac grabbed the rifle before June could reach for it. Or so Kali had thought before the woman broke down before everyone, apologizing for her actions in a jumbled mess of words. Though June had apologized, however, Kali took the apology at face value. She didn't feel bad for June. The woman had been rightful called out for trying to swipe the few weapons they had. There were shambling cannibals out on the streets, yet she was about to leave them defenseless against them. Nope. She wasn't going to let that happen. Even if Kali had no idea how to fire a weapon, she wasn't stupid. A gun could keep them alive—safe from the horrors that already claimed several people she cared about. Even the one that now held the hunting rifle that her elderly neighbor had gifted them as they fled New York. By then, however, Gus spoke up. For once, the man had a sensible idea, suggesting that the guns be left in capable hands. Kali considered the idea, finding it appropriate. Like Lex had said, giving the rifle (and pistols) to someone else could stop such a thing happening again. Still, Kali wanted to play it safe. She wasn't going to give up anything until June was stripped of the firearms she tried to steal. The rifle was one of the few things that stood in between them and the infected that now were wandering the neighborhood, as Lex pointed out. There had to be conditions in place, more than what Gus had suggested, for her to give up something that could keep them safe. "Once June gives up the pistols," Kali replied, laying out her demand. "Then someone can have the rifle. But not until then."
