Lex and Kali came across Billie pinning June against the MRAP yelling about the guns. Billie believed she had the situation under control, but as Kali yelled to Isaac for a rifle, her stomach twisted. If June was desperate enough to steal the handguns, she could be desperate enough to shoot her way out. She glanced downwards towards June’s hands expecting to see a pistol aimed towards her gut. Fortunately, for Billie’s sake, June easily capitulated and handed her the bag. “It’s under control now. Right, June?” She spoke, staring down the frightened woman. Unaware June was still attached to the bag, Billie yanked the bag only to pull her closer. She straightened her back to gain an extra inch over the thief. Billie wasn’t any taller than her, but she had a larger frame. Her eyes traced over June. Spotting the strap attached around her, she unclasped the bag away from June. ”Now, make yourself useful and get back in the van.” She went to open the bag before Flynn forced his way between the two. ”She gave me the guns.” She glanced towards Lex who reminded them of the potential infected threat out on the streets. How could Billie be so stupid again? Screaming out on the streets wouldn’t help anyone. If those things heard her yell, could they even take them out? Embarrassed, she brought the bag to the trunk of the MRAP near Gus. Wanting to remain on his good side, she complied with his demands. She opened her mouth to argue her case for keeping a firearm, but decided to wait. He had the keys to the MRAP and a safe cabin. ”Were there only two?” She gently handed Gus two pistols with the ammo. She was so focused on finding AJ that she ignored her daughter’s concern about hurting someone. She frowned, both ashamed of her daughter’s reckless behavior while at the same time understanding why she did it. “I apologize for my child’s behavior. When things calm down, I’ll speak to her about it. I’ll make sure it won’t happen again.” There was so much AJ spoke about, yet Diane’s only focus was finding her child safe and secure. Diane rested her head on her hand thinking about Kaitlyn’s offer. The military quarantined New York by destroying the bridges, but their home wasn’t safe. Her mind drifted to the gruesome nightmare in her school’s halls. The administration placed the school on lockdown, but they couldn’t prevent the mob from breaking through their security. She abandoned them, all of them: her students, her friends, her coworkers. They just passed civilians packed inside a stolen MRAP. Who could she trust? Would they be safe in Paul’s home? "Let me speak with Paul and AJ. I’ll see what they think." With a small wave, she returned to Paul's car. Seeing AJ tear up, Diane sat down beside AJ in the backseat. She only caught the tailend of the conversation, but she wrapped an arm around her daughter. Diane brought a tissue from her purse and handed it to her daughter. Kaitlyn’s offer would have to wait, right now she needed a moment for her daughter.
