Both of those also probably match up to what I'm aware the cast is shaping up to be a bit better in comparison, especially if you plan on amping up his utility like it seems you're planning to do. Either way, it'd be easier to give him buffs in whatever category provided he's got more lived experience in so doing.

It is stated in the Chuunin exam arc that it takes 20 minutes per cycle, if I remember correctly.
btw the best explanation for how the bleeding works is probably when he fights Torune (his dead cousin) in the 4th ninja war. He can bleed a specific type of insect (the poison variant) from 10ish to a decent amount in one fight. So I think it's safe to assume they have a very short lifespan.
